I run NATO straps because they’re cheaper, but still like 200 bucks.

Thanks! I had gone back and forth between a Black Bay and the older Tudor submariner but deiced to go with the Pelagos 42 since the dial has the reliefs for the lume. While I love the other two models this watch just seems more like a true Tudor and less like a submariner...

Can't go wrong with a Seamaster either I really like Omegas so that's tough choice...

I view the Pelagos as having more tool pedigree so would likely wear it more as a daily. The Seamaster looks more the part of a dress watch in my eyes, so I'd probably save it for more special occasions.

I have to agree and if I bought a Seamaster it would probably be the Heritage 300 model as I am a sucker for domed crystals.

I was gifted this Seiko 5 in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela about 25 years ago. The rotor is loud and it gains almost 30 seconds a day but I love it. It's the one that got me into mechanical watches.

Not sure why I can buy a quartz wall clock from Amazon that is silent and a smooth second hand sweep for $7 but can't find a cheap quartz watch with these traits.

A sweeping seconds hand in a quartz watch sucks power. A wall clock uses much larger batteries and can get away with it. Quartz watches use little button cell batteries that don't have the capacity to run a sweeping seconds hand very long.

Always curious about that but never got around to looking it up. Thanks for the explanation. If i remember correctly there are some quartz watches that mimic the mechanical movement but can't remember whose doing it.

Although not the same thing, this has got me itching for a Spring Drive Grand Seiko.

Anybody familiar with a watch company in Thailand called Wise? They get absolutely fantastic reviews on YouTube. I am seriously considering buying one of their watches, the Adamascus ADX True GMT (ADX130 with the red GMT hand). They use 904L stainless in their watches which is the same that Rolex uses.
They have several collections and some really nice looking watches.
