Lots of valuable bits in the old heaters!

 

I scored this nonfunctional dehumidifier on Facebook Marketplace. It apparently powered on when plugged in, but it was absolutely disgusting inside and had almost no freon in it, so it’s going to appliance heaven tomorrow…

 

The fridge that I got from my dad’s coworker and gave to Amanda’s landlady started malfunctioning (at least the freezer did), and I ended up sending it appliance heaven; I got some valuable bits out of both the dehumidifier and the refrigerator, and this was one of the easiest refrigerator disembowelments I’ve ever done!

 

Two compressors, some aluminum, some copper, some wire, and a condenser…

 

So, the condenser coil from the dehumidifier is so light that that was below the minimum threshold for a payout on the scale. Luckily, I am picking up a window A/C in Bridgeport when Amanda and I drive out to Coatesville to see her birth mother tomorrow; Bridgeport is literally right on the way to Coatesville…

 

I tore down the A/C unit from Bridgeport this afternoon…

 

I believe this unit was in a household with kids, and the kids got unsupervised access to it while it was in storage…

 

This unit was in sleeve, which meant I didn’t really need a screwdriver to gain access to the innards…

 

Another clue that kids found this thing would be the ritz crackers in the outdoor portion of the unit…
