Steering Wheel and lift

Just put a 3inch lift on and when the install was finished the steering wheel was sitting at about 10:30 as opposed to 12 o clock. Anyone else experience that? I got the alignment done and now it is at about 12:30 and there is a little more freedom turning to the right and more resistance going left. Big O did the alignment so I am thinking about taking it back down there. Plus one measurment on the left front and one on the right front wheel were still out of range.

 

just get them to redo your alignment and center the steering wheel....sounds like they got a bit lazy!!

 

Yep the guy that put my front billys on had to do that to mine. Like tacoman said they got lazy.

 

Does it mean that the alignment is off when the steering wheel is not centered?

 

not exactly. an alignment can be done, and they can skip centering the steering wheel........but them doing it that way doesnt mean the alignment is fully correct either.

 

Just think, at the 10:30 position you'll always be an hour and a half early.

 

I ask because from the day I purchased my truck the steering wheel has always seemed a little off.

 

probably what happened....they didnt fully set the steering wheel holder while they were doing the alignment, and it moved a bit!

 

It's always a good idea to get a before alignment/measurement and then an after. This way you know what you have going into it. They could align the steering wheel prior to the mod/install and then you'd know whether or not that something is askew.

I'm sure if you explained you'd be back after the work was done they would work with you on a price or deal that includes both.

Sweet thanks for the advice I am gonna go back in tomorrow. BigO has a 6month 6kmile warranty on their alignments too.

 

I think that steering wheel holder is almost like the old anti-theft device that hooks to the steering wheel and then to the brake pedal.
