Airbag light went on. Brought truck in (under 60k, but more than 60 months).

Came back with an estimate of 1100. Says code B1801 (or maybe D1801) and part number 4513004111B0. $879 for the part.

    Does this sound right?

    Toyotapart.com has it for $541

    I'd get a second opinion.

Part # 4513004111B0 is the button assembly for the horn but code B1801 is a broken clock spring so I'd do like what Nitro375 and take it somewhere else to get a second opinion. The broken clock spring problem seems to be quite common.

Dealer contacted Toyota rep and they agreed to pay the parts. Looking at the receipt, it appears the airbag/pad was not the problem since the light came back on after the unit was replaced. The dealer then replaced the wire (can't remember exact name). They said it was shorting on certain turns which is why the light was intermittent.

All good now plus I have a new airbag and pad. Only problem is that the tech put the steering wheel on slightly off center so it's going back soon to have it straightened out.

how did you get toyota to pay for this? i think that toyota should fix this for free, because there is no way i can break this myself and my life can depend on it. Good getting it fixed!!! i i didn't have the 1,100$ to pay at the time.

    Hi Josh!

My light came on (on my 2005) and out of warranty change of wire harness cost me about $300 (in 2008 maybe)

Hey! how you doing? i went in with a front end problem and that cost me 1160$ and they quoted me 1100 for the airbag light. Part alone was 600 OR 800 but with labor 1100. 300$ i can deal with.

I have a 2006 Tacoma DC 4x4. My airbag light came on at 61000 miles. On 11-8-2011, Toyota of Vineland fixed my spiral cable with no cost to me at all.
