Help with tires - New owner!

Hi folks!


I just bought a 2025 Tacoma SR5, and I’m new to all of this. The wheels I plan to run are Method 703 17x8.5 +35 offset, but they are not available yet. In the meantime, I’m considering getting 265/75 R17 AT tires that I can mount on my stock wheels now and then transfer to the Methods when they’re re available. Would that be possible?


Since I drive 99.99% on pavement, I’m looking for lightweight all-terrain tires in this size that will work well for my setup. I want something that won’t kill MPG or make the truck feel sluggish.

Any recommendations? I’d love to hear from anyone running a similar setup.

Those are fine. Anything under 35” should be fine. There are lots of tire threads out there.
Btw, I have 275/70r18 ( same size) and have zero issues. Truck runs great.

 

Welcome. Super Swampers are usually the answer, but you may want Michelins instead.

 

Oh sorry, I may have written that wrong. I was thinking about buying tires now to put on my stock wheels and then transferring them to the methods in a few months when they’re available.

 

guys are running 285 70 17 on stock trucks & the tire doesnt look huge at all, its perfect...
Has anyone called method & asked for ETA, theres real people over there...
Even if youre buying from a dealer that has no clue....
If you wait till you get the wheels & decide your selected tire is to small, if you purchase from a reputable shop like discount tire, they will allow you to get different tires if youre not happy with what you selected.

 

285s on the stock 4th gen is the move. It'll kill the MPGs though.

I used to run the General Grabber ATXs…they were great but maybe a little too agressive for your driving.

Right now I’m running the new Yokohama Geolandar AT4’s. They are a more mild all terrain tire and they have the 3PMS rating. I highly recommend them. I’ve put them through their paces, including going on a cross country road trip, and they shine in all conditions.
