I bought my '06 in October of '05. I'll crawl under tonight and see what I find.

My front-end mods and reinforcements may have just increased considerably.

you should be ok with the 4cyl. There havent been any reported incidents with them. The size of the engine is also a factor as it is quite a bit lighter. But thanks for looking as I think you are the only who has replied with a 4cyl!

I think my build date was June 06. Are the welded mounts the same on the 2.7 as the 4.0? If so I'll take a look at mine.

    Nothing yet, brand new!
I'm racking mine up this morning. Gonna check this out and let you know. But I have a double cab long bed. Still, I'm interested to see how they look. This was the LAST thing I'd expect from Toyota. :(
I don't remember my build date but will post as well. Has anyone else looked at their long beds??

I havent heard of the frame separating, just the motormounts pushing into the frame/cracking. Do you have more info on the frame separating?

Checked mine, and the 06 DC V6 Prerunner Sport built 03/06 does not have reinforcements, however the welds are pretty thick and look to be rather stable. Mine is a Nummi too...

This guy has Frame Separation/Motor Mount issues on his FJC. Maybe it is the same guy timmer knows? He states that Toyota refuses to warranty it but Toyota R&D wants the frame for analysis so he's getting a frame swap for free. There's some good pics:

Also does anyone know if Dana makes the FJ's frame or if they are similar to the tacomas?

Yep. The FJ, Tacoma and Tundra are all made at the same plant. :)
