Montana has really blown up with out of state hunters and low numbers of quality bucks. Same with Idaho and Wyoming. If your wanting a solid 150’s muley however that is likely achievable.

For me coming from eastern states, the hunt out west is more than the score. It’s the experience. Something tells me Dennis ain’t worried about a massive buck since he comes from the land of massive bucks lol

Yeah, the different style of hunting is intriguing, never have done the open country spot and stalk.

I’ve bolted some stuff to it *lists cool stuff here*
Was also going to kind of mention but don’t want to come off disrespectful as I’m sure you have some idea but make sure your boots are good:anonymous:

I’m sure you wouldn’t leave it out of any plan but cardio is no joke, all depending on land itself, motor vehicle access, guided hunt, etc( of course there’s a lot of factors).. not only the up and down can be steep as it gets but some of the places desirable to hunt are at considerable elevation!! Been on a hunts in Wyoming and your camping like 8000 ft hiking to 10k.. the locals make it look too easy, I’m sure @tacomakid96 does… and he knows even better than I.. I can see the hills close but I’m from the river bottoms not the real big country to find a muley

Very true, but that’s what makes hunting Muleys so much fun. Getting the absolute tar kicked out of you to spot one so far away you can’t get to them that day. Then going after them the next and they are nowhere to be found lol. Here’s the country where that exact scene where it took place 9 miles in.

My cousins a guide in Wyoming this year and last year were not great deer numbers wise but will get his opinion on what he would recommend. Personally I would do a guided hunt on one of the giant ranches in Colorado.

didn’t say it wasn’t worth it!!:woot: I’m just personally on the wrong side of the cascades to have mule deer in my immediate area, so I can’t say I have the experience a guy like you probably does, plus although I very much live in the west, our backyards look a lot different!!

I make that same choice every year. As a landowners son when I was a TN resident I paid $0 to hunt our land. Now as a MO resident I have to pay $330/yr to hunt my family’s TN land. I know if I didn’t buy the non-resident license I’d 100% get checked - just my luck. (Never been checked in 20+ years)
