Does anyone know if Toyota changed the climate control panel bulbs to LEDs, maybe in the second gens when they changed all the bulbs in the cluster to white?(LEDs?)
I read somewhere that the change from orange to white was also when the switch to LEDs took place. Can anyone confirm this? It seems certain that the warning lamps in the cluster are all LEDs just by observing how they flash: especially the turn-signal indicators.

I installed the WHP (cool white) bulb first. Works ok but the light is "splotchy" and uneven as if it's more directional than omni-directional so not all the lit elements appear even...some are darker than others. It looks worse in real life and especially at night compared to the photos which tends to normalize the illumination.

I swapped in the NWHP (natural white) and it's a little better but you can still see the uneven illumination.

Overall, not impressed with the bulbs. They illuminate, but not evenly. And I would recommend NWHP over WHP if you do go this route.

Update my new lights work. These lights have a slightly smaller bulb than OEM which may not do as good of a job at distributing light, but looks good to me. I had intermittant lights where you smack the dash and one side would turn on... Upon super macro inspection one of the leads inside both oem bulbs broke-- it didn't blow, no burn mark or obvious wire dangling inside, just a slight gap in the wire. That explains a lot after all these years...

Reviving this thread wondering what lights are available through Amazon dealers are expensive as all get out curious as to where to get the closest to the same size bulb as I am not wanting half illumination on the ac control panel.

Just wanted pop in and let everyone know, if you need a specific LED, head over to SuperBrightLEDS.com. I've been using them for years, excellent vender. They usually have everything you need and offer different color options.

They don't have the correct replacement, it's close, but not exact. It's also too bright in the middle, it doesn't shine enough to the sides.

I (partially) addressed this by adding a drop of clear hot glue to the center of each of the Amazon LEDs that I installed. The light refracts through the clear glue and the controls are bright enough for me to see at night.

I replaced the bulbs in all my lighted switches and in the HVAC control panel with LEDs 2 years ago. No problems.
