Mostly stock, just getting it to my liking, just happy to have had the taco and now my 4Runner.
Not as desirable but still surprisingly reliable, ran one to half a mil mark and still sold it at auction for a pretty penny. But man they were ugly, you could not pretty this thing up, lipstick on a pig statement really applied. Plus the cheap plastic stank, yes I used the correct vocabulary, stink and stunk do not apply, it earned stank.

Chevy did similar with Suzuki before their death as well. The tracker twins anyone?

Ford found itself at a disadvantage against General Motors and to a lesser degree Chrysler in the 1930's.

GM had seven divisions and were marketed with the idea a young man could start out with a Chevrolet and as he gained affluence, what GM called "the ladder of success", could step up through the GM family and retire driving a Cadillac.

Ford needed to expand the range of products offered to bridge the gap between Ford and Lincoln.
Mercury division of Ford was introduced in 1939 as a medium priced make between the two.

As Canada is more sparsely populated than the US there might be a Mercury dealer but no Ford dealer close by so Mercury trucks were introduced in 1947 to address this. Mechanically they were identical to the same model Fords, differences were confined to grille, trim & interiors.

Mercury trucks were discontinued in 1968.

Does anyone remember General Motors involvement with Isuzu? I believe the GEO Storm was a product of that but the Chevrolet LUV had to be my favorite. I was working at a Chevrolet -Buick dealership when those were being sold there. 40K and the motors were shot and the bodies rotted out. Most were oil burners but had great 4 wheel drive while they lasted. We used to say they were rusting before they came off the car haulers. Chevrolet did hit a homerun with Toyota even though most of those cars were forgettable.

Yep. I had a 1989 Isuzu pickup (Isuzu pup). It had the 2.6 motor, 4wd, 5speed, came on 31” tires, reg cab. I enjoyed and used the heck out of it for 196,406 miles. It was a good little truck.746EA042-EEC9-4B45-B7C3-0AD8627C9F62.jpg

It was and had a lot of fun with it. No one in our area wanted to work on it. I finally give up and sold it to a friend, who is going to give it a new life,

Finding parts will be the hardest part as more and more make less and less for them. The oddball 4x4s, Isuzu, daihatsu, eagle, so many that could be usable again that go to scrap.

There is one Isuzu dealer that still orders part from Japan. It can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to 3-4 months to get the parts.

pretty neat little car. i tried to find one to buy for a few years but every example i found had been owned by kids and they had f'cked them up.

the coolest part was on some there was this little green badge on the fender...

Huge shout out to @williams63 , just got home to a big car care package on my porch for my vw loving college daughter, thanks again, also thanks for the perfect box size as well, perfectly fit all the other extras I had been collecting for her into it as well, so one box and one trip, perfect timing as well as she will be through in the next week or so to house sit for her siblings while they take the senior high school trip.
