Olight US headquarters is right around the corner from our shop (High-End Aerospace Machine shop). They actually came in a few months ago to visit our shop and to see if we could start manufacturing their Optics. They gave some of us some flashlights and a couple Osights. Even though I'm not a big Olight fan (I used to have a couple of their small edc flashlights) it would have been cool to be their US manufacturer.. Especially knowing we are essentially in control of the quality. We could have been what made them more reputable and made a better name for them. Ultimately, we didn't get the contract because well.. we are "too expensive".. If that tells you anything... lol

i dont hate olight, ive had a few of their Odins. They worked fine, i still have one on the end of a 1301… it handles 12ga kick fine and still works.

that being said, i have far more streamlights than olights. I refuse to pay surefire/cloud prices for a flashlight.

I've had a couple of their EDC flashlights just die on me. The Ti one just randomly gave up the ghost one day and the other wouldnt same. Streamlights and Modlite/Arisaka WML's.

I'm sorry, but that's just not true. Years ago I let my wife, who at the time was making much more money than me, talk me into buying a Land Rover Discovery. That vehicle used was basically twice the price of a Tacoma and nothing but a maintenance nightmare POS. There is a difference between cheap and inexpensive.

So you had some bad experiences. I understand that. The guy I work with is a flashlight nut, like he buys flashlights from guys who build them from scratch. His opinion is that for a mass manufacturer Olight is better than most. So I guess we'll have to wait and see how these Optics turn out.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I have 2 Olight batons pro 3's in neutral white, among other Olight lights. I have to say both Baton's have been bulletproof thus far. One is a year old, the other 2 years old. I edc the oldest at work everyday, and the other is mostly home edc use only. I use the magnetic base often. Turbo mode will light up the night, but I rarely use it as high is plenty. I love all 5 modes in the light, and have used the moonlight mode to keep night vision. The fact moonlight can run up to 4 months straight makes it perfect in a oh sh!t situation too. The battery lasts at least a month at a time, if not 2. My only con would be I periodically have them turn on in my pocket. And NO I am not affliliated with Olight, just a huge fan!

I don’t hate Olight either. I do own a few. But my experience has been that they will never be a first line flashlight for me.

I can agree with that, my defensive pistols all have streamlights.

it is worth mentioning that a large majority of enthusiast builders build for clout, not for function. Of all the non-top tier lights on Amazon, olight is far from the worst choice.

I’m somewhat mixed on Olights, been EDC’ing their Baton and Warrior lights for years, I like them both, the magnetic charger tended to fill up with little metal bits when I was working in the shop, but now as a stationary engineer it’s less of an issue.
I have had some battery and charger related issues, not sure if the cell went bad or if the magnetic charger wasn’t functioning, but it’s only happened twice in 3+ years.
The PL Pro WML has been decent in my experience, I like to use it for night shoots as it fits in my safariland holsters for the TLR-1 and I’m not burning through CR123A’s.
The Odin seems pretty bright but not a huge fan of the magnetic tape switch attachment method.

On my SBR’s I run the Cloud Defensive Rein’s (1.0 and 3.0) because of the throw they have, with my Vortex Viper PST Gen 2 2-10 and 3-15 I could see a crumpled deer at 140 yards with the light for illumination.

To be determined at this point. Couple of options. Nothing I’m overly attached to.
