Putting on my new rear bumper to replace mine that was damaged in a very mild fender bender.

I noticed that me new rear bumper is infact marketed for 05-15.

In the instructions it shows a wing tab on either side of the trailer hitch that have vertical bolts that go through the the wings and into the bumper on the step.

My tow hitch does not have these two vertical bolts, and I'm trying to figure out if this is a part that slides over the hitch or not (i.e. am I missing a part that I don't know about)

Do your trucks have it? Was this a change during a particular year of the 2nd gens?

I don't know the answer but if it helps, I just took these of my 2015 DCLB (original owner/unmodified) with tow package.

Yes that was an option. Many of them have it.

Well I have an 06 that based on this I would assume has an aftermarket hitch assembly. Mine does not connect to the frame rails. It bolts through the main part of the bumper underneath the 2 caps pictured above in Dogota’s 4th pic. Based on my research it may be an aftermarket Kurt brand that I’m sure has a lower rating than oem.

I recently replaced my oem bumper with an or style replacement from RockAuto. The hitch got wire wheeled and repainted before I reinstalled it.

I recently replaced my bumper and tow hitch on my truck with another factory bumper and aftermarket Curt tow hitch. The stock Tacoma hitch had wings that were welded and a part of the original tow hitch. My new Curt tow hitch does not have the wings and therefore does not bolt back to the bumper. The tow ratings are still the same though. Not sure if that helps.
