I dont know if it's just me getting old or what, but this is like getting an offroad truck with skid plates and then getting mad when they get banged up.

They mount with a few fasteners and pressure clips. So it's straightforward and you always get that momentary anxiety when you're pulling, the part won't move, then you hear the clip give and you think "please tell me it didn't just break".

It's more forgiving than metal and aluminum.
Unpainted black is more accepting and forgiving than painted and clear coated surface.
Unpainted black plastic can accept a variety of scuff removal products on the market.
Gives the part the lowest replacement cost for when owner desires.

Mine though are color matched with ppf and ceramic coating

Working on a lien delete for my title…..
I literally take blue painters tape to mine prior to detailing so I can go nuts with the buffer. I’d rather avoid the crash than survive it…

So I'm not familiar with color matching. Does that mean you can pull them off, paint them to match the rest of the truck, and ceramic coat them?

Absolutely yes, unless they changed something in the hardness of the trim pieces. The ones on the 3rd gen have so many scratches on it (my rears do, not the fronts since I had both replaced in the front due to an accident)

Ceramic coat will not prevent scratches. You want ppf.

I should of got my fenders ppf when I got the truck ceramic coated first weekend both front ones scratched to hell. I did remove the factory ppf on the rear quarter and take it up about 6 inches higher then stock

Are there carbon fiber black wheel well trim pieces out there that are the same size
Are there carbon fiber black wheel well trim pieces out there that are the same size as the factory trim pieces that this forum would recommend? These look slightly larger than the factory wheel well trim pieces and I don't have a need for larger tires.

Thanks for all the information, a bit of a learning curve with all of this for me.

The OR's have had these for generations. They perform fine. They don't scratch any worse than paint. I think they're tougher.

Folk gotta get over comparing $1 today vs $1 in 2010. Average US car price is $47K-49K. The Tacoma is far from "expensive" not even the PRO/TH.

Where's your TH or Pro with a clean title? You need some proof to support your argument.

I could support it easy, along with a pic of my Patek, Vacheron or Daytona with my 911 and deed to my house too. But this is TW not Instagram, and I do realize I'm in a fortunate life state. The point is, welcome to the post-COVID world where 50K is average and 65K is loaded average or bare bones entry luxury. Can't buy a Tacoma expecting the fit and finish of a GLE AMG.

Why is the avarage car buyer financing a 47-49k purchase?

Literally, because 47-49K is the "average" new car price in the US
