Just took a 2 week trip thru TX, NM, AZ. Drove a total of 2752 miles , used 157.87 gallons, 17.43 mpg. 2015 Prerunner on 285s. Bad day was about 12mpg in a 50mph wind for about 250 miles, best was coming back had a great tail wind for 2 days got about 23mpg both those days. But overall very pleased with 17.4 mpg.

With those tires and lift that's probably about right. My 2007 is retired as our long road trip ride. I drive it almost every day but at almost 18 years old and with 253,000 miles it's only used locally and for shorter trips. But it's been cross country a few times. Mine is pretty consistent at between 19-20 mpg on the road. Basically, stock with P265/75/16's.

The last road trip was from GA to the Grand Canyon, north into Utah and back east on I 70 through Colorado. I got exactly 20 for the trip but there were some stretches on 2 lane roads where 50-55 was as fast as I could drive safely with rolling hills. I could coast down and halfway up the next one before needing to press the accelerator. I got 22-23 on that stretch.

On the way home we hit a strong headwind from Denver to Kansas City and only got 16 for a couple of tanks. Then from KC to home back to the usual 20 mpg.

No. Always filled at 1/4 tank left. Each time I filled up I reset trip counter 1 to zero. Saved all the receipts to get exact gallons. Mileage counter 2 tallied total miles for trip. Resetting trip one kinda gave me an idea of what I was getting each fill up.

That's about right given your gear. I suspect a bone stock Prerunner could have gotten 20 in those same conditions so a fair tradeoff.

But just don't think too hard about how newer full size pickups with a larger gas tank, weigh much more, and are like a cavern inside can get 26mpg highway now :pout:
