Ha! I actually love that guys set up. It'd be too slow and boring for me in a wheeling/overlanding sense but everyday I'm considering getting rid of everything and living out of the truck more and more so I'd probably want something more like that. Mine isn't going to be anything super special, you can basically picture what that overland under budget guy did except no roof overhang and less rear overhang because I already have a 6-ft bed truck. Also no wedge on top, I don't like wedge designs at all so I'm going to do a vertical pop. I like his idea of building this flatbed first. I'm just building a very weight conscious flatbed, It's not something I would use as an everyday flatbed truck It's just going to be the perfect platform for the camper.

It never seemed to be a problem, other than an inconvenience but you arent wrong.
If it makes you feel any better, you arent alone. Lots of us are feeling lots of things right now.
I am amazed that he has taken a 7.3 through some of those insane cold temps...they arent known for being happy below zero.
Oh it is very much on the horizon. I think i can weather this storm but i personally know people today that budget like crazy, work harder than me, and are left with <$100 at the end of the month. How are thofolks going to absorb an addition 25% increase on certain prices? It makes me so so sad.

To keep it Tacoma related...I am curious about how we will feel it in every day life. But does that mean the Tacoma is going to see a 25% price hike from the tariffs? So the base tacoma just went from $32k to $40K? Hell the TRD Pro if the tariffs apply start at $80k now....

And those are just the tariffs starting on Tuesday. We haven't even gotten to the extensive oil and gas ones and the supposed looming one on the 18th for the EU. I'm not saying I'm giving up but I'm about ready to, to be quite honest with you. Took a long drive this morning to try to clear my head, only came back more depressed than I've ever been.

I feel you, i try to stay informed but boy is that backfiring as it is depressing. Is it better to know whats going on or to claim ignorance? Its partly what sparked my trip next week to Canyonlands. To disconnect, to enjoy nature and forget about what is going on. And who knows, last time he was the leader, we lost Bears Ears. Who knows what else we may lose so we can "drill baby drill". Seems there's no better time than now to get out and enjoy our public lands. Hang in there bud.

Not sure. Technically the Tacoma is made in the us. So....no idea. Well they were I guess idk if 4th gens are.

We were thinking of having kids in the near future. But probably not now. Hell Devin wants to move to France. Or somewhere else haha

Yeah it's been rough. Powerless. Devin has been struggling.

Well they already opened up the Alaska wilderness reserve. And they've wanted to do that for decades. I wouldn't be surprised if ole Elon trys to sell all public lands..

I 100% don't blame her. I'm tired of living in this timeline. I am seriously considering up and leaving, It's still possible to get two year teaching visas in Japan, then I can re-up one time for sure for another 2 years after. Maybe then it'll be possible to come back if there's anything left to come back to. It's becoming increasingly unlikely I'm going to be able to afford to buy my home anyway, so I don't know if there's any sense in prolonging the inevitable.

Production shifted out of San Antonio during the 3rd gen, so i dont think they make tacomas in the US anymore, but they are made in North America at least to get around the chicken tax.

I could use a campfire with you fools to air these grievances  too hard to toe the line here.

Hm interesting plan. I've known at least two people that have done the teacher thing in Korea. They liked it I think.

I'm not ready to leave but only because I like my job. But it's getting harder and harder to live here. Both financially and culturally.

Will see. I have such a specific job it's hard to just up and leave and find work. Same for Devin.

Ah. Well they they will get screwed by all kind of tarrifs. Toyota did donate like a bunch of money to Cheeto heads fund so who knows.

A campfire would be nice for sure.

Yeah I feel like it would be tougher when your job is your passion. I've never had a dream job, as if I would actually waste valuable dream time on the thought of working hahaha

I mean it's not my dream job. It is a great very hard to find kind of job that is reallllly amazing it a ton of ways. But was never the OG dream. But I really cant complain about it.

Finding a full time audio production job is really tough though in general. So yeah.

Try to stay positive. It ain't easy, it's not even political anymore, it's cultural.

If it makes you feel any better I've dismissed the idea of having a home, and embraced it. Prices are still way too high for it to make any sense.

I feel you there, good job doesn't mean dream job. I work for the war machine which means it's stable, and I have experience in a niche industry. It's a good job but not like I am excited to go to it each and every day.

It's easier said than done, I can put on a decent face for friends and work most of the time. But truly most of the fun and enjoyment has been steadily leaving my life as each passing day goes on. And no, it doesn't make me feel any better to know that others are also struggling and putting off their wants/needs/dreams, I want for others to thrive as I want for myself to thrive. Home ownership was a dream, but it's a hazy mist of a Alzheimer's fever dream now for me. I think I might be able to pull a couple more years of renting this place out of my ass, maybe by then I'll be tired of my hobbies enough to let having a shop/garage go as well.

Fuck, as I write this I'm realizing I need a break from reality too and unfortunately didn't get to take a vacation this winter.

Eh I like going to my job most days. But wouldn't be a job if you enjoyed it all the time haha Still plenty of cons. But the pros far outshine it.

And while I have a home. I don't know if I can afford to keep it long term. Not with how property taxes keep rising. Hell I can't afford to really finish it even. Chip away small projects at a time.

I got over 2 weeks during christmas. It was nice. Mostly staycation and at my parents but still awesome. You should take one. Not that it'll make you feel that much better but still will help.
