Are you talkin' SAC, Strategic Air Command?

My first base was ATC (Air Training Command) at Williams AFB, AZ in 1986 -- T37s and T38s with a side of F-5s.

    Some people are just morons.

The AF did change the AFSC numbering system in the mid 90s in favor of an alphanumeric system. So your AFSC today would be something different.

I joined in 1986 and my AFSC for Material Management was 645X1 where "X" was skill level: 3, 5, 7, 9.

After merging with 645X0s (blue suiter side of Mat Mgt) the AFSC became what it is now, 2S0X1 where "X" is still the skill level.

Yep - A lot of us used that term as a subset of Air Force Brat.
My Dad's career was a bit unusual, in that he went enlisted radioman, OTC, Flying cargo for ADC (Pilot), and then missileman in SAC.

Sort of like what the Army uses? I remember now that AF's had changed after I left but don't know what they had gone to. Been 30 years since I separated.

Yep in 1989 heavy airlift was 457X2B the X is 3,5,7 or 9 skill level, and the B was airframe specific (141 for B). Then all Airlift became 2A5X1 and a suffix...and yeah, those were the McPeak days along with the great Aircrew Style Name badge on BDUs and the lovely Blues with navy hash marks on the sleaves....what a crock! was about the same time we could no longer do any "art" on the jets as well....got reprimanded for that one.

You're lucky to have gone to Lowry AFB, CO.

Supply Troops were being sent DDA (Direct Duty Assignment) from Basic...Supply School House was in the process of shutting down.

I went to 7-Level School in San Antonio in the late 90s and that's where the Supply School House had moved.
