Nice! What did you “tweak” in Tow\Haul? The pickup already runs quickest in Tow/Haul! :burnrubber:

I'll save you the time. From the video:

8% improvement 0 to 60 time post tune.

91 octane pre: 8.666* not sure which drive mode
    91 octane "sport" post: 7.97

    3 tune options.

    1. SR auto / manual trims -- restore detuned to SR5+ output
    2. Stage 0 (all trims) mild trans and boost tune
    3. Stage 1 (all trims) more boost and more trans tune

Currently not available for hybrid models.

Pre and post dyno, 91 octane 4,300' elevation. Level 1 tune.

11% improvement in horsepower, 9.1% improvement in torque over baseline.

Would love to see a pre/post auto transmission SR on this.

Stage 0 and Stage 1 are also available for the SR and Manual trucks.

We'll have an announcement on the Hybrid models soon.

Both runs (Baseline & Tuned) were on 91 Octane and sampled on the same day. I don't expect the power to be much higher on 93 versus 91 as we're nowhere near the knock threshold, and these calibrations were designed to run regular-premium fuel.

Our calibrations up to Stage 1 do not require Premium fuel, though it is recommended for optimal performance.

Stage 0 and Stage 1 calibrations have a $650 MSRP

All SR5 and TRD Offroad/Sport trims will see the same improvement in output—approximately 30hp/30ft-lbs of torque increase at the wheel.

Shift points do not drastically differ in tow-haul, as unlike previous N/A platforms where an increase in RPM was required for additional torque, the 2.4L-T Tacoma does not need to rev very high to generate the necessary torque required during towing.

Most of the changes in Tow-Haul revolve around torque requests/targets.

I am curious if you tested with aftermarket intake and exhaust? If so did you see a larger increase in HP and TQ? $650 for the tune for double the gain compared to $2kish for intake and exhaust seems like a no-brainer.

I'm curious about this as well. Just a quick look at a KN cold air intake for the 4Runner and it showed 15hp and 25 ft.lbs torque increase. So combine that with the OTT Tune the two alone could potentially be nice upgrades.

We've acquired several aftermarket intake systems and will be testing them on the dyno to assess their performance, as well as the accuracy and precision of their MAF housing designs. Additionally, we’ve developed the necessary calibration data to ensure the TRD Pro/Trail Hunter intake functions properly on non-Pro/TH models. The larger MAF housing on the Pro/TH airbox allows for significantly increased airflow before reaching its limit, which may be an important factor for those looking to push performance further in the future. Regarding exhausts, we've not tested any, but we plan to soon.

That said, an intake and/or exhaust alone is unlikely to deliver the substantial low-end and midrange torque gains that some claim. Much of the testing conducted so far has not been true apples-to-apples comparisons—many baseline runs are done without gear lock, meaning they aren't actually at WOT, while the “after” results are gear-locked and tested at full throttle. This creates misleading data that overstates the real-world impact of these modifications.

Anybody know how this tune may affect our warranties? Also, can the tune be "turned off" if taking it to the dealer? This was an option on a tune I had done when I had an Audi. Thank you.

It is implied that you assume risk. Your responsibility to reflash to stock. There will be people commenting soon dismissing the risk. It ain't that kind of movie.

How hard is it going to be for OTT to adapt this tune to the 2025 4Runner non hybrid since they have the same engine.

I'm really glad you guys did this by the way.

Yeah. I kinda figured. Would be awesome to have it, but I’ll probably hold off for a few thousand miles. Make sure she ain’t a lemon, ya know.

I’m all but 100% certain we’ll be able to effectively port our data over to the Gas versions without a hiccup. Very excited to get 4Runners supported honestly!
