Then again the dealer will absolutely check through everything and cover their ass.

And before anyone comes in here all hot button about how dealerships rip everyone off, dealerships are watched over by their oems. And Toyota is actually pretty good about it. So if they screw something up they will fix it correctly on their dime.

 

I’ve done a 17 by just dropping the trans. If you have access to a lift and trans jack, you can do it in a day. If not, there is a shop in Warsaw that will do it for about $1500.

 

Long shot here...does anyone have a hitch mounted swing out tire carrier I could rent for a couple months? I'm driving to Prudhoe Bay this summer and would like to be able to take two spares.

I am. Taking 5 weeks off and going from Memorial Day through July 4th weekends. Working remotely off and on if I get to camp a little early. No hotels except for in Deadhorse.

sounds cool man! so far ive seen a few people make it out there on bikes and the roads are really not that bad but it depends on the weather it seems.

No. I'm camping for the whole time so bed has recovery gear, food, water heater, diesel heater, fridge, water, fuel, cooking utensils. I tried to squeeze a spare in as well but it didn't work out well. If I got a swing out, I could put the spare and cute wittle backpack on it to carry trash and fluids.

I can barely see over the hood scoop of the Sports...let alone a 37 on the hood! haha

 

Buy @Calamity_taco 's bed rack and rig it up.

 

I have a Leitner rack with two single pods and a RTT on it. I'm fabbing up a tray for my tire table and rocker camp chair to keep them out of the bed and handy. Might not take the diesel heater

What kind of bumper do you have? Not all swing out Tire carriers can mount to all rear bumpers

 

He could just take @Calamity_taco to be a tire carrier.

 

Ironman rear bumper. Factory tow hitch. Most “universal” hitch mount swing outs should work.
