Just a question, does the Tacoma (2020 TRD sport) detect the amount of oil in the engine/crankcase?
I ask because in the Toyota app, under the vehicle Health it shows "Quantity of Engine Oil is at the required level, " instead of "Quality"

How exactly would the truck report the quality of the oil to you? You think the engine has a little blackstone lab inside for real time diagnostics on oil quality?

By miles driven and time since oil change. Same thing vehicles have been doing for decades. i.e. 22% oil life remaining. Is it scientific? Absolutely not. Is it handy to plan your weekends when you forget to put a new sticker in the windshield? Yes.

I can assure you it does not have a level indicator as I leaked all my oil out on the way home from my first oil change due to a faulty/not installed o-ring on the filter housing and I had no indication until I lost oil pressure.

That's something I've never seen. Seems odd to have such an indicator for quality, and not have one for the appropriate oil level.

A lot of GM vehicles have level sensors.
