At this point I'm probably not going forward with that last job; he wanted to be able to pull his landscaping trailer with the hitch in the bumper just for clearing landscaping and such. He seems cool, and I'm confident the design and gussets would hold and pull it no problem. I really doubt he'd try anything if something went wrong but nonetheless I just do not want to touch the liability on that with a 100ft pole.

Its tempting, TIG looks like it would be fun too. Whole lotta investment on something I don't have any personal use for at the moment though
Been thinking about looking into some welding classes at a local CC or something, because I'm sure there are some basics that I don't know from just jumping in.
My doors are open for easy-ish mig stuff!

Bigger stuff I'd probably lean towards working with Jacob, he's setup a hell of a lot better for big side jobs. He's working on a pretty cool bed rack with a undermount tire carrier using the stock spare tire winch for Jason, interested how that turns out

Get you a Hypertherm if you ever want to cut thinner material with a nice finecut consumable type.

Otherwise yeah a PrimeWeld will do nicely.

They're supposed to be releasing a new one soon. Least that's what Gene told me last year before I switched brands.

    @Bandido

Finecut on the left, general cutting on the right.

    20241101_124352.jpg

Both cut at the appropriate speed and amp rating for 16 gauge.

Big difference in heat input. And when doing intricate items with a lot of detail close together, the parts remain flat as hell.

Yep, I posted it here in the thread as well as FB.

    Sold it for what, $350?

Served me well for 3 years and some months.

I made that fuel tank out of 16ga, actually tries the high amps super high feedrate trick, very meh with the results.

if anything my THC and pierce delay settings were getting all tripped up trying to do that without any practice.

Yeah that's 16 gauge for ya.

I ran the left part at 32 amps and 150ipm.

On the right it was like 45 amps and 210ipm?

Both at 0.5 second pierce delay.

yeah I've been having the pierce delay not seem to post right out of fusion since... I was running ~37amp 180ipm, dross was a little inconsistent, built up on longer cuts but not shorter.

The way the post processor is written, pierce delay doesn't begin exactly at torch firing or something like that.

0.5 is the lowest you ever want to use and most machines don't have the output voltage to penetrate near instantly. With my PrimeWeld, I had to run 0.9 for 3/16" whereas now I use 0.5 for 16 gauge up to 3/16".

For most machines (non-Hypertherm), you generally want 0.6 for 16 gauge, 0.7 or 0.8 for 12 gauge, 1 second for 1/4" and so on.

I'd been running .7 for just about everything with no issues except for reducing it to .5 for cutting the fuel tank parts out... now despite changing it in fusion it doesn't seem to have changed in new programs, or it has and I was just lucky for the past 2 years lol

Cut this down with my mini cut off tool, squared it up, beveled the edge, and she's as flat and square as I can get it.

The front drivetrain "wiggle" is completely gone on my RC now.

Think I'm going to finally do my ucas this weekend/next week, since I'll need an alignment I'm looking at knocking out the LCA bushings and replacing a rack bellow while Im at it.
Seems most recommendations on touching LCA stuff is to replace all the alignment hardware with oem, I really do not want to add another couple hundred in parts to this. AZ truck should be okay there right? Its all original afaik

Could throw some snowbound spindle gussets on order too.. Might as well right

Typically the cam sleeve seizes in the control arm. Cross your fingers yours are not too. In theory it shouldn't be. Mine were seized on a CO truck with 150k on it. What's the need of spindle gussets over new alignment hardware though?

Probably gonna throw some KP Offroad cam eliminators in soon so hopefully the "new" cam sleeves aren't seized. Seemed to be free when I did my home alignment last month. I think i used antiseize lol.

I think 6 out 8 of the parts trucks had at least 2 cam bolts frozen.
Even my 2nd gen had a frozen cam bolt.
It's pretty much guaranteed at least 1 will be frozen.

There’s a TW discount code for them in the thread…pretty happy with mine so far haven’t kicked the alignment like the cams always did
