2024 hood insulation

I bought a thick dynamat hood liner for my 2024 SR5 to drown out the fuel rail engine noise. As my truck is leased, I am hesitant to peel and stick it to the underside of the hood. The sheet was big enough to lay from fender to fender over the entire engine. It's not resting on any specific hot engine surface due to the way to sits. I ran the truck around a couple miles in town like that and it definitely is much more quite. I since removed it as I am unsure. Would leaving it like this be a problem? The difference between where it sits and theoretically should sit is just a few inches. Any opinions?? I should have bought the factory kit but the price was significantly higher.

Rated to 300 F. Electrical wiring insulation is often rated lower than that. If it still bugs you, trimming to size like the OEM is an option. I suspect Toyota's template incorporates aesthetics and cost considerations as well.

 

Don't worry - whoever opens the hood at lease-end is just checking to make sure you haven't swapped out the motor, for say a G3 V6 . The hood liner flies so low under the radar that it doesn't register.

 

Imho, if the vehicle is lease, don't do any mods, they will charge you (removing item and cleaning) when returning the rig. As for fuel rail noise - wow you must have phenomenal hearing. As for me, I could never hear my wife calling.

 

The noise is driving me nuts. I love everything else about the truck but that f'ing noise. I sounds like total crap for a few seconds on acceleration. As it comes and goes in all sorts of conditions, i am sort of convinced it is the fuel rail that others claim. As far as hearing goes you would need to be deaf not to hear it but I am a bit nuts over noises in general.

 

It could be Toyo's "Active Noise Control" system. It suppose to get rid of unwanted noise in the cabin and adding a deeper and sportier exhaust note. It's unbelievable that they did this...

 

I tried the ANC tweaks. While it seemed like it helped immediately it did not. I learned over time how this issue seems to be present most times. It can be quite low and barely audible at times. Other times it rages. Air temp, octane, engine temp, humidity, acceleration all do not matter. It's like it has a mind of it's own as to when it is going to show. Just to be clear this is the rattle can noise some of us complained about at 1800-2000 or so rpms on acceleration.
It's not piston detonation, grill shutter noises, turbo whistle or any of the other new sounds some are experiencing. The hood insulation I tried muffled the engine to a great degree so I would urge anyone getting the new truck to at least get the factory hood insulation. It seems like the higher trims that have this are getting less complaints from what I can tell.

 

I have the same truck - 2024 SR5. Mine makes no such noise. No hearing issues I'm aware of.

 

Did you get any packages added that might have the hood bonnet?
