Front Grill Fender

Anyone with a Bronze oxide notice an slight curve on the top of their front grill? a slight curve toward the right side closer to the headlights. I saw another bronze oxide with the same issue in an REI parking lot.

 

Maybe take a picture with something other than a potato so we know what you are talking about?

Checked my grill - all is symmetrical. No indent or curve...

Unfortunately it looks like a dent.

 

Me and my dad both have these dents. Have had mine since pickup around July.

 

Nothing hit my truck or anything. And I had mine in July too.

 

which sucks because nothing hit my truck. And I chatted with a dent guy and he says that part is plastic so nothing he can do.

 

Could have been done in a parking lot/street/etc.. And the dent guy is correct. Nothing you can do with dents or scratches on plastic. Have to replace or repaint the entire section. Sorry it happened to you.

 

Looks totaled, let me know if you want me to take it off your hands.

 

Btw, you may get away with just replacing upper frame around the grill. Not sure if you can order one that's already painted from Toyo. Although I haven't done it myself yet.

 

Sorry, sounds a bit suspicious (deliberate) to me.

 

I chatted with the dealership and you order those but it comes unpainted.

Like I say in the original post, I noticed that same issue with another taco in a parking lot.

 

I picked mine up in July and my dad got his end of August and they both had them when we got them. Probably had them when they rolled off the line

 

My silver Tacoma doesn't have them. I'm thinking that it's caused by the bronze paint melting the plastic substrate.

I'm surprised the dealer sales and pre-check team didn't say anything. Also, you could have filed a damage claim for free replacement. Unfortunately, it appears it's too late now.

 

It might not be a dent per say, may have been improperly molded or maybe some sort of support there & mis-made...
Ive seen numerous on the lot, not sold yet, with similar issue....

Go back to the dealer YESTERDAy, not two weeks from now, dont make an appt, just go!!!!
& state your case, politely, without losing your shit.....
Should have taken a picture of the other truck....

Will requite a new front clip & repaint....
They may toss some filler at it & repaint but not how dealers usually repair things, especially if toyota decides factor defect & theyre going to take care of it....
Thats what needs to be done, but its up to you to navigate this correctly..
