Yeah that's what you have to do if you want to get something, but you can't test drive before starting the process. Anything that makes the process that much more work frustrates me to the point of buying something else altogether. Maybe as production ramps up that will change.

I waited 11 months for a manual transmission to show up in California. I got lucky and saw one show up at my local dealer.

BTW, none of the nine or ten dealers I contacted and/or visited would allow me to order a specific build of Toyota Tacoma. They all said that Toyota won't build to order. They all would be happy to take my money and offer me whatever they happened to get, if I was next in line, regardless of whether it matched my spec at all.

I really wanted bronze, or perhaps white. I owned and drove my silver Gen 2 for 18 years and really wanted a different color of my choice, but no. I got another silver Tacoma. Oh well. :)

It's OK. The new silver has grown on me and I like it.

So, depending on how long you want to wait, perhaps you should consider the underground. Maybe it will grow on you.

My bad. I had the 24 selected. 2025 is Terra instead in the OR premium.
My dealer has been really good in offering whatever colour comes in next in the trim I am looking for. I need to go take another look at underground. From a practicality standpoint it is probably the best option in the OR Premium.

Interesting the underground OR Premium is still sitting at the dealer. Not presold and has not sold in 3 days. Things are really slowing down. I’m going to see it tomorrow.

I went through a similar situation. I knew exactly what I wanted but was having trouble finding the exact match. Put a deposit down at the largest dealer in the area. I also let other local dealerships o ow what I was looking for as well. I wasn’t in a big rush, my 2005 TRD OR is/was still running good. I think my deposit was in JUL and I took delivery mid DEC. These trucks aren’t cheap. Ignore the FOMO and hold out as long as you can for exactly what you want.

Same here, drove 450 mile to pick mine up. Nothing available, with my preferences, in Northern Cal during the months of Jan., Feb, and March '24 (found mine at the end of March). The one I found came with all the options and color I wanted but unfortunately, also a spray-on bed liner, that isn't necessary on a composite bed. Had to pay for that idiocy.

Get what you want. Exactly. Unless they maybe want to cut a deal.

I was on the fence Bronze Oxide vs Underground? I decided what ever came first with the options I wanted with no port installed BS. Ended up with UnderGround. It’s pretty cool sometimes it looks flat grey, almost black, or a really dark blue depending on lighting.

I was in similar situation as both of you---- happy w/ the UG, but didn't want add'l add-ons. When dealer found me close match, but w/ spray-on liner, blackout pkg, and mud guards I asked if possible to remove them before build date. After checking, he told me they had no control re the MGs, but got the other stuff removed. I was definitely happy enough w/ that---- $60 extra was small price to pay for everything else being exactly what I wanted. (Actually going to do blackout myself, but the way they had it you're just paying 4x more for tailgate letters and that's it.)

I put a deposit down in January 24 for an ctra cab OR 6’ bed cold upgrade package. They never told me they didn’t plan on making any. Trade in were worth more back then. I ended up looking at their allocation in route for months until I got tired of waiting and got a OR6’ bed premium in Underground for like 20k more. The paint came scratched all over and i really don’t care for most of the Premium options except i like the 14” screen and the fake leather is nice. For how expensive they are its crazy you cant custom order Tacoma's. I paid about the same for my 2019 Raptor and I paid 36k for my 19 OR Tundra new. The biggest thing I regret was not getting a sr5 upgrade package and saved 15k or a Trailhunter to get a 6’ bed Hybrid. But these were going for more than MSRP at the time and there is no way I would pay that much for one i would probably get another Raptor or the Raptor R. I change up cars frequently and consider this one a stepping stone and store of value for now. Id like a Solid state Hybrid 6’ bed xtra cab but its probably not happening because people buy trucks as part of their personalities instead of as a tool with the needed wanted truck features.

I am in an underground because it was the only manual transmission available for a good price within 250 miles. I love the color. No scratches if you wash it correctly.

Let me know how it goes! Currently have a Cement and it's been a fantastic color, doesn't show dirt or scratches. If I was in the market for a 4th gen, underground would be my first choice. If you aren't pleasantly surprised, though, wait for what you want!
