Other way around. Not enough people want an xtracab 4x4 to justify increased production of that combination of features.

How was Toyota able to offer the 6MT in the Access Cab Sport and Off-Road for the whole 8 year cycle and can’t now all of a sudden. Did Toyota ask you or me what we wanted?

They are able to, but there isn’t a large market for it. They’re in the money business, not the niche stuff business

Problem would be solved if we all collectively didn’t buy Toyotas until they offer custom factory ordering…just sayin ;)

sure. The <1% of people who can’t find what they want banding together will exert tons of pressure

That's the spirit. Diamonds are forged under pressure.

Are we still doing the “don’t buy gas on Thursday, they’ll lower prices if we band together?”

Well, US gas is pretty much the cheapest in the developed world and has been for decades. So...we did it?

Sure and I assume also "standard" with roll up windows and AC was a $2,000 option as well. I mean that is about when the demand for manuals started to die. I get it no one likes change but the world is changing and certainly so is the demand for manual trans in just about anything. Really the sports car world was the last of the hard core manual owners and even those are just about all gone and fitted with far better auto versions.

It's sad what has happened to this forum. 5 pages with mostly nonsense and trolling, telling this gentleman that 'no one wants that combination' and 'no one wants a manual'. I guess that's why they didn't make a V6, because no one wanted that either? And some people just enjoy shifting and controlling the gears the truck is in for inclement weather, offloading, and so they don't have to make a post on the 3rd Gen forum asking why their truck is sluggish and is hunting for gears.

In regards to your question @InTheZone , I have wondered this myself for many years but yes unfortunately you can't get a DCLB in a manual. That option has never been available in a Tacoma. The Extracab with a 6ft and manual stopped after 2015 if I am not mistaken. Like someone else said, you'll have to choose what you value more: the extra space in the bed or the manual transmission. I chose the manual DCSB and some days I wish I had more room in the bed but I still think I made the right choice for myself. It's all about personal preference but at least you have that option to choose.

The Access Cab with MT didn't end in 2015, it was.available 2016 all the way through 2023.

Adding, it was available in that configuration on only the TRD Sport in the US and on only the TRD Offroad in Canada...for some reason...

It's a tough call because they're equally important. I may opt for the auto transmission, though. I have a sports car with a manual transmission and my wife keeps saying that I need an auto just in case she ever needs to drive it. It'll be a tough pill to swallow, though - I'm a manual guy through and through!

You don’t know my wife! We’ve tried that before and let’s just say it didn’t go very well. She doesn’t want anything to do with manual transmissions!

my wifes only question to me once with my diesel "6speed" F350 at one point was why was the first gear so short, she was putting it in low, not 1st. but seeing a my wife drive my crew cab f350 long box was pretty amazing
