This was a fun, unique one!

Dimensions were very specific, as well as placement of all parts welded.

It's the metal construction of a card stock model - was a request from a member on the forum as he was looking for someone to make it out of steel for his mother (she's an artist).

Normally I'll knock out some brackets or make some sort of one off assembly but this was altogether different for sure!

Thought you guys would get a kick out of some "professional welder" glamour shots.
I ordered/received another quick attach plate for my Kubota tractor. I plan on building a manlift basket so I can lift my nephew up for tree trimming.
The plate is 5/16". They were on sale, and I just didn't want to put in the time to make one myself.

I'll be adding some attachment points for the lift basket, and I'll repair these joints.

Post a picture of the outsides of those corners. That looks like it's just spots where the weld penetrated through then got painted over

running NHO limb risers, like below:

except truck has ARB front bumper with headlight hoops

Thinking of relocating the front mount, to a tab / have tabs welded onto the bumper hoops
according to ARB, tube OD is 1 7/8"

    kind of like this:

    why:
    1. better protection line
    2. body tab mount blocks hood from opening. Relocate to bumper may potentially fix this

question is: I'm not really familiar with tab sizing or sourcing
is there a top go-to place for stuff like this?

if I hire a welder I'm trying to make things easier and provide a part that goes right on.
Hopefully there's no drawback to grinding and welding onto the bumper hoops.

Seems to me like the part to search for would be called a 1 7/8" OD steel "Radius Tab"

then I probably just have to play with a ruler on my desk to get an idea of the dimensions since it's not in hand
biggest concern to figure out will probably be eye size, to make sure the turnbuckle can connect

and not so much thickness, because as you can see here, it doesn't need to be that thick. Would probably pick 3/16" max just so it looks good and not flimsy-looking.

TL;DR: where to find weld on tabs, McMaster? Grainger?

I don't know if I care for those high dollar turn buckles.

I'd find some stainless versions at a boating supply company.

A galvanized version would be cheaper from any hardware store and do the job just as well.

    My welding today.

Boat eyelet install and some boat trim.

Building 2 McKenzie river drift boats. Miles of aluminum MIG welding. I'm kinda over it and ready to see the end.

Yeah I mean, one could take a small bit of scrap steel and just cut/shape with an angle grinder.

Then the hole can be drilled out.

This is all assuming one has only the most basic of tools of course.

I'd even make a set for free if he wanted, those small bits will fit on my scrap sheets I've got against the wall.

    Be happy to!

I've got I think 20-30 bottle openers that just need the bevel added

Whenever I've got scrap 1/8" to kill, I cut up bottle openers so give out.

Picked up some some #6 wire today, adding an interior 50amp 240v circuit is now in progress, along with dozens of other projects in various stages. I really need to build the compressor shed and get that beast out of the garage and regain some much needed space.

I will pick up the conduit and other small parts to finish adding the 240v circuit on payday, and hopefully.. get it down before the heat of summer, and maybe I will get the garage door insulated this year.

the thumb is feeling a bit better, some days still hurts like hell though, hoping I can start regaining some grip strength with that hand as it heals

already have the turnbuckles. They're a part of the NHO kit. Has been installed on the truck for a while.

That gives me an idea. I can measure the hole diameter on the stock bracket
and look for a tab with similar hole
or blank radius tab without a hole, and drill one of matching size
so there's not an excessively big hole for the turnbuckle to go into
