I bought my son a 2008 DoubleCab Prerunner with a sunroof. There is no dome light, so when he opens door at night it’s pitch black. Is there a hack or am I a total idiot and missing something?

Considering there was no sunroof option for 2nd gen trucks there's no telling what was hacked/removed/modified to install an aftermarket sunroof.
    Got any pictures?

At risk of being stupid, no dome light present or just not operable

Well dang…. No pics on my phone, I will try and upload some tomorrow…..

ABA180….. No dome light present at all… DM93 informed me it’s a aftermarket sunroof hence the missing dome light.

That would explain it, they cut out that piece.

I wonder if you could install something like footwell or map lights perhaps, seems much easier versus trying to do the dome light at least on paper.

ABA180, it has 2 maps lights above the rear view mirror. I am wanting to add light as the door opens and closes… I was reading about courtesy lights that can install in the door opening. I will prob check that route.

That would work, I wonder too if you could add something else to that map area to trigger it on door open? Mine doesn't have that so IDK

If you can find the wire that went to the stock dome light you can use the map lights as a dome light, it just involves adding and swapping a pin in the map light connector. In fact if the dome light connector is still up there all you need to do is de-pin the blue wire and put it in the map light connector then move one of the other pins (I need to look which one) to a different slot.

Ok so to get the map lights to act as the dome light while still retaining map light functionality you would need to swap the White and White/Black wires in pins 1 and 2 and then add the Blue dome light wire in at pin 3.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
With my luck, this is exactly when my truck burns to the ground.
