IMG_1317.jpg Hope y’all’s weekend is great. Been working so much myself down here in south Texas, I’ve had the Taco covered up through the weird weather. Arrived home from work today and decided to take her out for a cruise and me for a brew. Couldn’t be more thankful for all I have in life. Thankfully all 3 cars are paid for, and do what I need them to do. Keep up on maintenance and they will treat you right

Stoked to be able to wrench on 3 well built motors-

    Taco-2rz
    F150-5.0 Coyote
    Lesabre-l67,3800.

this is what’s under the other cover in case anyone was interested. Out of all the rides though the Taco is the number 1 in my book.

Stupid easy fix today. With these trucks being over 20 years old, original plastic parts are prone to break nowadays. The other day I noticed the truck had essentially “zombie” brake lights while the truck was off, no key in ignition, light stalk in off position…the tail housing was hot to the touch after my commute.

After digging into it I came across this thread
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/taillights-stay-on-when-engine-is-off.760612/

Mind you, the listed part # within that thread is incorrect today as it falls under 3 different parts. See pic below for part #.

    IMG_5862.jpg IMG_5864.jpg IMG_5865.jpg IMG_5874.jpg IMG_5876.jpg IMG_5895.jpg

This cushion keeps a switch depressed when not actively engaging the brake pedal.

I could be wrong, but the photos attached make it seem like the little cushion is installed backwards. I would think the flat part would face the switch, rather than the cone side. If it’s facing the other way I think it would get pushed out of the pedal with regular use. Just a thought.
Here is an example from a Honda, but you get the general idea. Hope this helps!

Yes you are correct. In either case, the direction I installed it alleviated my issue. I’ll get around to flipping it at some point.

Looks like a rear LBJ failure. Very rare on these trucks, of course.

Man had I known that…I actually got their metal tailgate handle last month after someone mentioned it here.

Thanks for the link. I just replace my drivers side exterior door handle with the dorman handle. Seems like I'm doing that every other year now so will try the metal ones next time.

They are frequently out of stock, so I recommend buying them now while you can. Murphy’s law says they will be out of stock if you wait until one breaks.

Put a front mount reciever on it and then a plow on that and plowed my driveway finally. Worked great. Just in time for more snow..

I have the opposite problem. Sometimes my upper brake light does not turn on when I brake. Hard to confirm when obviously. (no, it's not the light)
