Cues deer are the grey ghost. Black tail are in small pockets at dispersed numbers and traverse. Cues just disappear and never leave the range.

Yeah I was just thinking about that. I have never had the luxury of passing on a legal buck thinking I’ll get him next year. First, I have never had the privilege of hunting private land. Nor have I ever hunted from a stand. I have however hiked miles and miles of rugged terrain, in deep timber, and driving rain, crawling through blackberry vines, devils club, or alders so thick that you thought there is no way in hell anything could get through here…but that is where the fresh tracks have led. Sometimes you are rewarded with a nice 4 point (8 point for those who count both sides) but if regs say forked horn or better, you can bet I’m taking the shot on a forked horn. Then happily dragging that thing all the way back to the truck the way I came.

Something I've learned, it's not about the size of the deer, it's about the hunt itself and the memories made, who you're with if you hunt with someone (kids, friends, whoever) and if you're blessed to kill a big one, so be it.

At the end of the day meat is meat, I eat meat :hungry:

I kind of understand this cause I hear it’s a shitshow out there with folks shed hunting, but damn this seems a little over the top considering that a non resident tag in Colorado is $700 and Montana big game is $1150. Never hunted ID but I assume it’s comparable.

Its really irritating.you'd think it would light off with enough heat. Id done it in summer but was scared to catch woods on fire. Ive cleared enough leaves, now it shouldnt be a problem.wont get anything done till it dries up a month at least.

And thats truly admirable, worthy of much praise and congrats; we don't all hunt deer sanctuaries, golf courses where no others are allowed to hunt, then come to brag and act like its much more an accomplishment over the folks that actually get out there and grind hard just to see, much less have an opportunity to harvest any size of deer.
