We were having this conversation today. My first car (1982 celica) hd no power steering, let alone ABS. I didn’t even get a half day off from school on the first day of the ice storm of ‘98!

Picked up the threader and had to show Cole how it works. All I had was a pipe clamp that has 3/4” pipe. Good enough for a demo! I haven’t used one of these since 1995.

He found the cutter that went with it and some cutting oil as well.

Dies are in good shape, even the holder is Ridgid brand.

Gave it a wipe down with some WD-40.

    Ridgid 300, how fitting :spending:

    upload_2025-2-6_20-4-55.jpg

    Wiped everything else as well. Has 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4, 1 1/2, and 2” dies.

Handy find for sure. Did my whole shop with a hand threader. Soak the dies in diesel to clean ‘em up. Only had two minor leaks. :)

    Agree ^^^

We put bread bags over our socks and wore those green & yellow rubber boots to school. Change into shoes when you got there.

Putting it into "S" and downshifting to second doesn't skip first gear, it just keeps the transmission from shifting into third. I don't believe there's any way to start an automatic Tacoma in second.

My 2nd Gen auto loves to be in overdrive when I’m doing 30 mph if I keep it in ‘D’. I swear I can feel the engine lugging. I put ‘er in 4th or lower unless I’m doing over 50

    Thanks for asking :hattip:

Chilly and overcast. A good day for shoveling before the next storm.
