    Hi all,

I placed this in the wrong forum. So, I would like to put this in new member. Just purchased a 2008 Tacoma Prerunner TRD Sport with 192,300 miles. I am excited to learn from you all. There are some spots on the roof and hood where the paint is wearing away. It appears to be well maintained based upon the carfax and it has spent most of its life in California and a short period of time in Texas. I am currently in Virginia.

The roof paint failure is a common problem on many colors. Usually the clear coat goes first, and gradually takes the base coat with it over time. My son's 2005 Access Cab (I believe with a metallic black mica color?) has this problem. You want to take care of it before it creeps to the windshield. Very bad and expensive fix if/when the corrosion creeps to and gets into that lip. He wet-sanded his roof and hand painted it semi-gloss black with a roller. It actually came out pretty good. No clue from looking at it from the ground The hood is showing some signs of this failure too, but not bad really for a 20 year old vehicle with 250,000 miles on it. (2.7L/5sp)

Thanks for the welcomes. I checked the battery, and it has a date in 2019. I am going to change the battery. Is there a battery that you would recommend.

Not much difference between brands as most are made by 2 manufactures. Some like Costco, some Walmart, some OEM etc.. YMMV.

Personally, I would look at ya local Auto Zone, O'Reilly, Walmart and price their 24f batteries and see which one has the specs you want, with the best price and or longest warranty. They really are mostly all about the same, and all will last 3+ years depending on driving conditions and weather. I always buy the cheapest, best one I can, and have always had good results with everstart from Walmart in all my vehicles.
