Talk to me about airsoft guns and birds. Does it work? Does it kinda work but its at least fun? Do you wind up with a yard full of pellets you dont want to pick up? Whats a good cheap gun for home bird defense?

A break action pellet gun from big 5 will put out 1k+ fps and kill prairie dogs, gophers, birds and make feral dogs decide to go be somewhere else

They also sell snake shot chambered in 22 lr, 9mm and the more common calibers

ETA Could also be a great excuse to buy a Ruger MK4 and a Silencerco Sparrow

The goal is to fill the birds with lead, but fair enough

I might not be the person to talk to, I had a caddyshack like conflict with prairie dogs at my flagstaff house

Are you just trying to make them fuck off or are you handing out forever naps?

An airsoft gun with plastic pellets will probably not result in any permanent injury to a bird unless you get those suckers really cooking.

Just trying to scare them away. Ive never shot an airsoft so I didnt know if they were loud enough or had enough force to scare birds away.

I had some pigeons that liked to nest in an eave nook at my old house in Gilbert (two story)...shot one in the dome with my pellet rifle and it got stuck in place. Ended up working well and served as a reminder to all its kind that my house was a place of bird death, not refuge

Something like this ... seen on building all around PHX ... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bird-B-Gone-Reflect-A-Bird-RFLT-1/301706589

That HomeDepot page also shows a couple of other non-spinning options.

I don't like those plastic airsoft bbs. They go everywhere and are a real pain to clean up especially if you have a lot of gravel in the yard.

A .22 pellet rifle would take care of a lot assuming you have good aim.

Bird spikes on chimneys, large fake owls placed around the yard and reflectors help some too.

2nd the break action I bought one to keep the doves from eating my chicken's feed. I have a .177 and go for body shots they flop around a bit but that scares the others then you just walk over and pop their heads off. I also found out that doves will go for peanut butter on a rat trap.... :anonymous:

You will only get in trouble if they catch you. I am here trying to get my ducks in a row so I can quit my job. Nothing is really stopping me from just saying fuck it and walk out. Well except my expensive hobbies and bills. Fucking sucks.

Good old wrist rocket(that's what the girls in high school called me) then you're simply just re-distributing the rocks around your yard. Unless you're using the metal shot. But if you get good, you can pick those fuckers off pretty easy or at least scare them away.

I also use those fake owls. I have 2 in my carport to keep the dove off my vehicles and from building nests above them. They're pretty cheap and seem to be pretty effective

Sweet. We are waiting on Oldcastle to manufacture architectural blocks that match the color of our house. They were supposed to be done mid January, they were ordered in September.
