    I buy that stuff off them all the time. Anything special is a nightmare with them to get made in a timely manner. Back in covid days the wait period was regularly 6 months if not longer.

    I think we are getting screwed by having weird color block from 1951. They're probably just waiting until someone else requests the same color so they can put together a big enough order that its worth it for them to make. So we are getting shafted. At least the pool and hot tub are open!

    More than likely you are correct. Those kilns they use are massive and really expensive to fire up. Atleast the pool and hot tub are working.

    Alright y’all, I have a new entry in the saga of wtf is wrong with my Taco. After changing the oil twice, my VVT system CEL has gone away, but it still ticked like crazy. After a trip with my Boy Scout troop this weekend, one of the other scoutmasters reported a lot of white smoke out my tailpipe when I would downshift up hills, he said “like a diesel.” Yesterday, while I was at my parents house for a Super Bowl party, I was idling in neutral and the engine quit and wouldn’t restart. We tried jumping it and nothing. No crank. Just a thud. The battery was all corroded and six years old, so I figured that was the problem. It tested bad at oreillys today, so I got a new Toyota battery with the 84 month warranty. Put it in and nothing changed. Any help from those more knowledgeable? I’m thinking maybe alternator or something.:annoyed:

    TLDR: truck shut off while idling yesterday and won’t crank, even with new battery. Alternator?

    The alternator makes sense but I am puzzled on the white smoke. I dont think you would have a head issue with it being a third gen.

    White smoke = coolant

    And by no crank you mean not even a click or a turn over? An alternator won't cause that condition...

    Almost sounds hydrolocked

    If the battery got killed that much you wouldnt have any click.

    @PilotBoy352 were there dash lights?

    It lights up the dash and everything. When I crank it, it just gives me a single thump, idk how to describe it other than a thud. Idk how it could possibly be hydrolocked, I haven’t done anything like that, but it does seem to act like that

    The 3.5L usually won't leak coolant into the oil...it'll leak either directly into the cylinder or external. Sounds like it's time to start pulling plugs and looking for the pink...

    That is what I figured. That is less of an issue for me than it dying and not restarting. By the way, there was no sound when it died, it felt like I just stalled it out, except it was in neutral
