That's a new one. My dad's 2021 Sierra can run up to 140 in 4x4 and be fine- I'm jealous of his auto mode for his 4x4.

 

2019 suburban can run down back roads at 100km/h in 4x4 without issue. Checked the manual in case since it’s new to me and doesn’t say anything about max speed. Does say, driving in 4x4 for long periods of time can cause premature wear on the power train and poor fuel mileage but that’s all.

 

Lol people love to make up stories how fragile 4x4 is in vehicles.
I regularly drive 100km/h+ plus in my 2018 sierra and switching on the fly.

 

Yes step 2 was ask to see his owners manual that he is quoting.

Which model was it? The 2018 Silverado and Colorado manuals say you can do up to 72 km/h in 4low

 

You can do 80kmh at least once

 

That’s only like 12 mph u.s.

 

I wonder if this has something to do with the idea of the triple locked land cruiser. I think they have a "diff" in the transfer case that allowes you to go around corners in 4x4 fast and lets the front and rear driveshafts turn independently of each other unless the diff lock is on. idk just guessing

 

I do have an “auto” mode on my shift knob. no idea what it does though, i just leave it in 2wd unless i want 4x4.

Don’t need no stinkin computers tellin me if i need 4x4 or not

 

It's a full-size so it must be the Silverado.

He is a bit 'special'. When he is back at work I will get his owners manual to confirm.

I’m finally getting around to doing my lift and I was just about to order my ECGS bushing and install/removal tools when I figured I might as well check in with y’all to see if there’s a install/removal tool I could borrow off one of you fine people?

 

Saved you the trouble. No mention of a speed limit in the manual.

We did have one that was in circulation but the person who borrowed it essentially lost/lent it out. Not sure if @tgelata has one.

 

The one I had is the one that got given away outside of the group with no known whereabouts.

 

I just have the install tool somewhere in the house still, but not the removal.

Does your twin-stick transfer case have a speed limit for shifting from 2hi to 4hi? Is it 100 kph or 80 kph?

 

Id say maybe about 140kph is the limit.

I change doing 120kmh regularly, with out issue, on a daily basis in the winter.
