Found a body for my Ascent at Goodwill over the weekend. I wanted something that would be a bit of a project, so I settled on this "F-150." Ignore the squat, I took it apart before taking the picture and didn't feel like screwing it all back together.

It was way too long for the Ascent, which I knew going into it.

So I chopped out the rear door

I used hot glue to put it together. We'll see how it holds up, but I figure that because of the small size it won't be too much of an issue. On a 1/10 it would definitely need more reinforcement. I'll probably add a bit of superglue and sand it down to make the seam a little less obvious. I also cut down the interior pieces to fit the new single cab setup. Finished day 1 happy with what I accomplished.

Next up is smoothing out the cut line as best I can then painting everything. Should get to it Tuesday. Paint also should get here today for my 1/10 Tacoma, and I picked up another small 1/64 project that I'll probably get to next weekend.

When I pinch a body I use bondene or plastruct (MEK) to weld the plastic, then reinforce with a strip of styrene and super glue on the inside where it won't be seen. Tamiya putty works to fill in like bondo and sand smooth before paint

I would do something more secure but right now I'm challenging myself to keep it as low cost as possible - so far I'm in $2.99 for the body and that's it.

FCX24 is running well. Mostly. It's shorting out at full throttle but I must have snagged one of the battery wires on something in the 100 times I took the thing apart so it's hanging on by a thread. Might try a Mofo RC motor this time.

Fat Viper. It will fit, with either moving the body support forward, or the 15 degree skid, or running it toward the rear.
It runs fine on the Furitec ESC, just about as slow of rotation, much higher top end. Saving it for the UTB build.

Which motor setting are you using on the furitek esc for the fat viper?

Looking like I'll be throwing the micro on the comp rig. Has a higher Kv rating as well as being lighter. Gonna save the mofo motor and my now 2 mini komodos (v1+v2) for the other 3 chassis I'll now have

The Furitec Lite doesn't have motor settings afik. It's programmed with a card and just has rotation, LVC, BEC and drag brake settings. I just plugged it in and it worked. :notsure:

    Just sucks y'all aren't closer.

Be way better to compare each other's rig side by side seeing as how we're all nearly built the same, with small differences.

Used some self-etching primer from the body shop at work and it had a bad reaction to the plastic :annoyed:

Time to sand the whole body down. Hoping I can clear out some of the finer body lines at least somewhat well.

Ah gotcha just seen the card. Wonder if there's more settings in the app with the bluetooth module or if it just gives you the same options?
That would be dope, I'll be in cali may-july and bringing the rig :anonymous:

Well shit, CA is huge so we'll see if you're nearby!

The course at my local hobby shop is pretty badass, you'd love it.

I'll be in ventura County, just looked it up...5 hr drive :bananadead: if it's worth it I'd make the drive to the hobby shop. I wanna compete while I'm there and I don't think the hobby shop I've been referred to in ventura holds any.

Shit I was going to suggest Amain but nevermind, that's way up north.

Ventura to my county is 3.9 hours.

Marty's hobbies is looking like my best bet while I'm there. Only 30 ish minutes from where I'll be staying. Unsure if they hold comps though I'll have to contact them. Found a video of their course on YouTube

Edit: looks like they do have comps. Just need to see if they'll be holding anything while I'm there. I found a video of rcsteve taking 1st

Holy difference. Swapped to the micro and not a single ounce of struggle coming from this thing. Continuous tire spin. Lost slight low speed but this is more what I was expecting torque wise.
