Thanks for the help on 3D printers. I ordered a Bambu Labs P1S. Now to research free 3D modeling software. I’m a SolidWorks user but can’t do that now that I’ve retired.

I also use solidworks daily. My wife uses fusion 360 but I think there is a sort of affordable version of solidworks for hobby use. I just use my work laptop to design stuff for home….

I used to do that too and use the printer at work. Retirement prevents that now. I’ll look at Fusion 360.

Fusion360 is the one i was thinking of. It's pain to find, but you should be able to register and get it for free for home use

Is there a 3d printing software that uses the same file type as CNC? Or vice versa?

I think fusion 360 has a built in slicer but nobody uses it.
3D printing gcode settings are a ton simpler than any Cnc stuff because you basically slice your model into 0.2mm layers then only make x and y moves then just move up to the next layer. Idk if this makes sense at all but short answer, not really.

    No, not really. I don't have a 3d printer. Just a laser.
But, I want to make something up, make sure itll fit how I want, and then have it cut. If it works out.....

    Either way

Edit: damn, i didn't think the smudges would show so bad in these pics given the bad lighting. The oil I use to finish stuff really attracts lint and dust when it's wet/being rubbed in, I always give a final buff before boxing/presenting for this exact reason. The smutz comes right off when the oil is soaked and dried.

Any recommendations for a home safe? Just need something to lock documents away, ideally fireproof and sub $200
