Bodie..

 

Bodie California?.... Wife and I have entertained thoughts of a drive out there - to honor our pup who crossed over last year...
Pup was named Bodie.... much longer and interesting story behind the best dog I've ever had but it's a long-long story.

 

Western Bluebird, usually found at higher elevations was in the Valley ( metro-phoenix ) enjoying
the 75 degree sunny day.... I saw a flurry of blue and this fellow stuck around and posed for me.

 

I believe this is a Red-Naped Sapsucker... taken in December at a smallish park.
Background is washed out as it was a bit overcast but the details are decent.
Image looks better on a 24 inch screen - this and other sites 'compress' a bit.




Saw my blue-bird friends today at another park - this is a raw snip ( ie: unedited image ).

On Valentine's day no less - I found some Peach-Faced-Love-Birds in some thick tree branches.

 

I screwed up and forgot my real camera.

 

The best camera in the world is the one you got with you at the time....

My camping check-list-spreadsheet lists 'camera stuff' as the first line item....

 

Chasing blue birds again around a nearby small park. I believe now that they are nesting in the area
as the temps are approaching mid 80's here and spring is in the air. Happy to see them, the more the
merrier in my book.

This area has been home to Owls, Kestrels, and now these guys.

 

After a very stormy day in the desert the clouds parted late - got off a few shots of the eclipse.

 

Nice. It was clear all day here but clouds moved in as the sunset and fully obscured the moon just prior to the total eclipse. Made for a lot of hazy pictures and none that really turned out well.

Cooper's Hawks at a nearby park remodeling last year's nest...
They know me so well they'll sit on a nearby branch and pose for me - oblivious to my presence.
