If I had it to do over again I would have gotten an SR5 and have had it re-geared with a locker for less than a TRD Off Road. Don't get me wrong I like having a TRD Off Road with the rear locker but I never use the MTS/Craw off road (I have played with it but never use it) and the technology package is nice I guess but not really worth the extra $$$ IMHO.

If you compare the Base MSRP between an SR5 and an Off Road in the same configuration the difference was less than 2 grand. You would likely have more invested in the SR5 doing a rear gear and locker upgrade than the MSRP price difference.

I suspected that it was a 2.7L due to the lack of “V6” badging, and a look under the hood confirmed it; this truck has 2TR-FE! Some of you may remember that I got a 2023 AC SR 4x4 as a loaner a year ago, with the 2.7L, that felt incredibly underpowered compared to my truck. This blue one felt a lot more responsive, probably because it’s not weighed down by the transfercase. Anyway, if something happened to my truck, I would use the insurance payout and my Enterprise employee discount to buy this one!

One thing that immediately stood out to me on this truck was presence of one tire that didn’t match the other three; I am really OCD about this type of shit!

You would think the extra weight of the double cab would slow it down even more.

Common practice is for customers to leave the rental vehicle at the body shop where their personal vehicle was being repaired, and we go pick it up; I got to pick up this 2023 DCSB SR5 from a body shop today. It was registered, and probably sold new, in Louisiana; 2WD Tacos (with the exception of those with the SR trim) are virtually unheard of in my area, but they are highly common down south (scroll up to see the blue DCSB from Florida) and out west…

Pretty sure the Frontier I had rented in 2021 was 2WD off my skull, it was registered in GA

Enterprise makes a point of equipping all vehicles in my area with complimentary ice scrapers/brushes, but this truck was from Louisiana and didn’t have one; I had to wait for it to thaw out…
