the WORST that could happen is a very very slow leak if the patch/plug didnt hold

A fresh razor blade in the middle of 2 day old advan (rear), a grappling hook in my 50 series 15 inch rim rear tire, tire shop couldn’t believe that one. Picked that up at night.

So, it is worth trying how it is if it blows because it is "safe to stop-always"? Glad to hear you were kept safe by now. I rather pay the $250 for the tire and mounting. It is also no guarantee that it will not blow sometime, but risk is lower I say. Not sure if tire repairs are same quality as new tires. Will have to do research on that. As far as I read, all recommend the plug as temporary fix only. Had 3 tires punctured on my Tacomas since 2019. All replaced - lots of mods I could have bought for that money...

10% loss of air pressure in a tire can be dangerous. You will not even notice 10% loss. Hope you have TMPS-which only come on when the tire pressure is critically low (plus a few psi safety).

Long handled (12" or so) needle nose pliers went through a brand new AT tire handle 1st and beat the shit out of the rear quarter panel... A, AA Duracell battery went in the center of the tread and from the compression, blew the center out of the battery, could still see the coppertop outer shell... Big rig glow plug in the tread... a office chair wheel, I took it home and installed it in one I keep in the garage...long metal stake (like a RR tie) also went through the tread and the wheel, destroyed the wheel... the list goes on and on... lol

I asked the dealer I bought mine from and they printed out a set of instructions for me; something to keep in mind if you buy more accessories.

12" piece of rebar got caught inside the rear wheel well and forced through both sidewalls. A piece of someone else's CV joint. The tire shop had no sympathy for me on that; said that someone else had a worse day than I had.

Road hazard warranties seem to be extremely effective. I've never had to replace a tire when I bought it. :)

I did make my kid get road hazard for his car; he has 45 series tires and potholes jump out in front of him (so he says). He's on a first name basis with the folks at the local Big O.

if you don't know about tire repairs then don't second guess them, you just scare others that may need a tire repaired, i plug ALL my own tires and have NEVER had one that didn't hold and have what you call a "murderous blowout"

ps: a quality plug is a MUST

Hooke road one is just plain poor quality. Screw holes never lined up very well, it doesn't fit the contours of the tailgate it just goes over them. It's too thick to be able to use a tailgate gap seal like roxblox and the most annoying thing is it warps in the sunlight so the tailgate is difficult to close. Maybe they are better now, I don't know. But the one I have is a piece of shit.

    None, yet
No noise to speak of but I did notice when I crossed bridges that they make a different pitch on concrete.

Really shipping is $70+ on that? I might be interested but shipping seems silly. Not sure exactly where you are but USPS says $30-$40 based on the dimensions from Amazon. If it will ship for that I will take it.

Amazon shipping is discounted due to high volume. consumer shipping quote is the actual cost. best prices you can get IMO are through PirateShip.

This is all industrial standard, there are no federal laws against it, will vary by state...
Most tire manufactures will void the warranty on a plug (only) tire, the proper way to repair a tire is with a tech patch (patch/plug combo), most big chain tire stores will not plug a tire due to the liability and it is even against some polices to repair a tire that has had an improper repair (plug only, tire sealant)... An independent and or small tire shop can do whatever...

Even though you and I (yes me) may have never had an issue does not mean others have not, even when done with a good plug kit with the flex of the rubber and under pressure a plug can blow out...

And it is not scaring them as much as it is informing them of what can happen...
Lots of people drive a vehicle their whole life and never have a wreck, so no need for a seat belt, but because wrecks can and do happen everyday, seat belts are required by law except for adults in New Hampshire... So again, just because it has never happened to you does not mean it does not happen...

BTW 35 years as an automotive technician/service manager with an associates degree in automotive technology and my last 17 years (before retirement 2021) working for the largest automotive tire manufacturer in the world... I might know a thing or 2 about flat repairs... lol

however, maybe OP used measurements for the product? OOP could be using dimensions/weight for the box it’s currently in…

I used the product the product dimensions plus a couple inches. It really just needs a flat piece of cardboard on both sides not necessarily a whole box.

PM me your zip code and I'll check prices. I just did a random price check using my Michigan zip for shipping to Yuma AZ, Sacramento CA and Tacoma WA.
With an actual destination it may be less.
Actual dimensions are 56x17x1 and 18 pounds. I put it in the cardboard sleeve the snailarmor panel came in.
