You could buy it now and have an awsome way to get around while in school. Bikes are very fuel effecient and will be an assest in saving money and releiving stress. :D IF times get tight you could always cash it back in.

See I know for a fact that I am not responsible enough to not ride recklessly, so I have avoided even considering purchasing one.

It costs too much to drive it. LOL! I put in $50 yesterday and barely got over half a tank. Shit's supposed to hit $5/gallon by Memorial Day. When I bought the truck gas was $2.50/gallon or less. It's just gotten to the point where going to the pump is painful. $200/month for gas for as little as I drive....not worth it. After looking at TDI's with my brother, I started figuring things up. If I traded in, my car payment would be significantly lower and I would save a TON on gas. All together it would end up saving me over $200/month. Which is a major factor when also saving for a house.

Considering your budget.... maybe this is closer to your price range.

    :D

Even a basic Honda Rebel - the beginner bike for generations - is going to run you $2k used and around $3k new. But getting 50mpg is pretty nice.

I don't want to get rid of it, but it's just too expensive to drive.

Buy a bike or a small used vehicle that's good on gas. You will regret selling the truck

I'm not a bike guy. I don't want to buy a second vehicle. It will cut into my house fund to buy it and it will cost more monthly to keep it insured. The goal is a house. Truthfully...the goal is a garage, but they generally come with a house.
