Thanks. How those clowns happened to tear that off is a mystery to me.

Same way they lost 2 lug nuts on my pathfinder and replaced them with the wrong ones, cross threaded them, stripped them to where they were stuck on, and played stupid. I am lucky that drilling lugs and studs are easy for me. I would be shocked if there is anyone changing the tires that is over 22. These guys hustle...I will give them that but I am sure errors are made a lot.

Good lord. They may be Discount Tire, but isn't tires all they do? You'd think they'd git gud.

I used to own a BMW M235 coupe………beautiful car……….it had what is referred to as a staggered set (front and back tires are different sizes with same rim)……..run flats…….had them rotated and balanced every 5000……

always reminded the tech upon check in…….hey man, staggered set…….

they gave me car, wouldn’t move………..DT had rotated front to back………totally scratching inside of BMW rims……..

Without ANY disagreement, DT ordered and paid for, new set of BMW rims…….they were custom color……

every mechanic shop makes mistakes, not everyone stands by their mistakes………..DT has my business

You are kind. Every one makes mistakes sure. The majority of what they do is tires. "Staggered" tires aren't like a unicorn. They should have known better. Forgetting to put valve caps on or accidently busting a TPMS, that is a mistake. Doing what they did AT A TIRE specialty shop is not a "mistake". That is stupidity, having the wrong person doing a job he is no where near qualified for and training is horrible. Damn right they should have completely replaced everything.

    Just getting started.
A couple of months ago Discount Tire didn't torque the locking nuts and I lost two. The store manager was nice enough about it, apologizing, not trying to blame me, and ordered a new set. However, now I'll never get my tires changed without taking my tool kit.

I think....but for reference, I took the photo from where the tailpipe would normally be on the truck if you did not have a axel dump. So drivers side by the rear bumper.

It seems like these days if you leave a tire shop with your tires installed properly and safely that’s already a big win.

Do Discount Tire still chime into these threads to gaslight us into thinking they give a fuck about their independent shops’ piss poor quality control?

It’s a race to the bottom. We’re all out here cross shopping to save thirty six cents on a tire purchase and are surprised when our mechanics aren’t seasoned veterans of decades of tire work.

I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m playing Russian roulette when I pull out of a tire shop whether one of the wheels is going to fall off when I try to merge onto the highway.

You shouldn’t, but it’s an inevitable consequence of us all searching for the cheapest possible price.
