Oh, makes sense now to me as a new owner (I thought it was a true one with computer assist). So then, you can't really damage the differential if you keep the "VSC off" button on when driving in sketchy conditions?

I love driving my Trailhunter but there are so many things that I dont like about it. Issues that I didnt have with my 3rd gen.
Lately, my biggest gripe is that when i turn on the vehicle it switches off the radio and starts playing something random from my phone. The vehicle radio source is buried in the menus and it takes forever to get back to the radio station I was listening to. Usually im already driving so i'm risking my life just to turn the radio on.

If its an android, there is a setting on the phone for android auto that lets you disable automatically playing phone music.

The iPhone has none of this newfangled technology. You can create an iPhone shortcut automation that runs which is about 70% reliable.

the infotainment system in general is awful, basically my only gripe with my truck besides the smaller fuel tank.

I’m barely a week into ownership of my 24 TRD OR premium, but am very happy overall. My gripes are similar…

    1) small fuel tank, but an email to Long Range America confirms that they’re working on a solution for a larger tank. It’ll be expensive, but worth it.

    2) The 14” screen is comically large, but I’m getting used to it. I think it’s ridiculous that I have to swipe with my finger thru all of the radio stations or Sirius stations vs a scan/seek option. The menus are just funky.

    3) The dang TPMS screen won’t stay in place on the driver’s screen.

    4) MPG is ok with an avg of 18-18.5mpg running 285/70-17 tires and lifted a couple inches.

Otherwise, I love the truck. Driving it is a pleasure and they really hit the nail on the head with the drivetrain.

the arrows on the right side of the steering wheel will cycle through tracks, or your favorite stations once you set them up (or through tracks or skip time depending on the app). the mode button will cycle through the audio sources (but you cannot skip apple or Amazon music). it's still pretty janky, but better than nagivating the menus on the screen.

Thanks for that. I spent a few minutes sitting in traffic deleting the prior owner’s favorites and added my own. Now I can scroll easy(ier).

Also changed the maps to always dark, that makes the screen much less distracting.

3 is so weird. Mine has been in my gauge cluster option of choice since new and has never changed

It is weird. I thought maybe there were too many options checked in the menu for that side, nope. It just doesn’t save that one particular setting. I’ll make note of it when I get the brake recall done in the next couple of months.

Apples to oranges my Ford TPMS read out has to be accessed through the service screen and the truck can't be moving. I can't recall if the transmission has to be in park but I have to be sitting still. I'm wondering if Toyota is the same way with the TPMS screen? I see this complaint a lot, I have no idea what the TPMS on the Tacoma looks like.

No. It'll show and actively display while in motion. It just doesn't "stick" during a restart. The tpms value though won't display for the first minute or three, just dashes. Funny enough if you change it to one of the two other sub tabs on that control, it'll stick. It's exclusive to the tpms view that it won't hold, regardless of left or right side. Entertaining enough, if you remove every other display option from that side, it'll start up entirely blank.

Mine sticks for about 5 to 7 days. I still cannot figure out what triggers the change on the 5th, 6th or 7th day.
