Recommendations for Bumper Light Bars for 2nd Gen Tacoma?

I have run Baja, Rigid, Rough Country and XSprite. If you plan on using the light bar for normal use, get the RC or XSprite. If you really demand performance, get the big brands. I have an XSprite on my Prinsu rack and a RC in my Pelfreybilt aluminum bumper.

I use my ditch lights WAAAYYYY more than my bumper lights. So I went premium with those, Diode Dynamics.

 

Correct, I’m looking for something suitable for normal use, especially when driving in mountainous and foggy conditions. I’m actually looking for something that I can mount behind the bumper grille as shown below.

 

I have this bar with brackets that I made. Works pretty well but I am building a front bumper so I am changing setups. If your in the northeast I'll trade you a 6 pack for it all.

You made the right decision to make your own brackets. The cost for the brackets alone is $75 plus tax, which is almost the same as the price of a Lasfit light bar.

 

you mentioned foggy conditions, however neither of those lights will work well at that. they will just blind you. for clear conditions it will work fine. if you also want a good fog light, you need just that, a great fog light. take a look at diode dynamics for that.

 

I'll second the DD SAE fogs. I've been using them for a while now and they really are the jam in serious fog, mist, and driven snow. A huge amount of the performance from fogs (when they are being used as actual fogs and not just extra lighting) isn't the total light, it's very much to do with placement and the wavelength (color) of the light, and the DDs are right on the money.

More/brighter light in the wrong place and the wrong color will just make the glare even worse.

 

Yeah, lightbar is gonna suck in the fog. I'd get some BD Pro's and put them in place of your fog lights. I'd do Amber lenses.
