    Really love the Gen 2 Regular Cabs. Ideally it would be 4x4 and V6. Do these actually exist? Does a spreadsheet exist with options and trims. Wiki is woefully inadequate

    No gen 2 regular cab ever had a V6 option, I believe 1997 was the last year you could get the V6 in a regular cab Tacoma and they are pretty rare.

    I could easily be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that there were 2005, and maybe 2006, regular cab v6s.

    Regular cab 2.7 can’t be that much slower than a stock double cab V6. Can always get the access cab V6 or turbo that 4cyl.

    Bilstein 5100s front, Adjustable Ranchos rear.
    Get the access cab. It's a much more usable configuration. What if you want to secure items in the cab? Want to go grocery shopping in the rain? Maybe not with a standard cab.

    I once had a Ford Ranger regular cab. I quickly regretted that decision. Double cab is the best way to go imo. All kinds of options. It's a truck, hauler, tow vehicle, family car. It's a jack of all vehicles.

    Love my access cab. If I was building a 2nd gen crawler, I'd go regular cab.

    Not for 2nd gen.

    The 2003-2024 4Runners and FJ Cruisers have the same wheelbase as a regular cab, so they are another option if you want a small footprint with a V6 but don't need a bed.
