Anyone notice a squeal or creek noise from the truck after parking on even a moderate incline? My '25 has the auto parking brake, when I park in the driveway and get out of the truck, like clockwork, I will hear a quick squeak or squeal while walking away from it (a few seconds AFTER the truck has been turned off and locked). I know it's the parking brake because it doesn't do it if the brake isn't applied... this would be separate from the spaceship noise that the EPB makes when they're applied anyways. Just wondering if there’s an adjustment for how tight the parking brake gets or a way to calibrate it so it’s tighter and doesn’t make the noise…

Mine does it too. It's doing its job. Wait until you hear the evap system whirring like a hand blender for minutes. Can go on much longer than your 3G did.

It will make a short squealing noise several seconds after the initial park sequence with the engine off.

I don't think I have ever heard another vehicle make a sound that has an electronic parking brake make a sound after the brake has been applied.

What is making the sound, and why does the parking brake make a sound?

I have no idea what's going on, but I don't think there should be any sounds coming from the PB after it's been engaged. That does not sound normal to me, not with out an explanation of why there's a sound.

Is the sound the brake engaging? That would be normal. I can't imagine why the parking brake would make another sound after setting the brake shutting the truck off and locking it.

OP or anyone one else hearing a sound after that is going to have to get a video of this sound.

Mine will make a sound when I first turn the truck off. It’s a quick sound but I always assumed it was the turbo.

Hybrids make more noises than a millennium falcon. All of them perfectly normal, including the hyperdrive…

This is exactly it. And I don’t have the hybrid. My driveway is not super long but does result in the truck parking on an incline which is why I ultimately left the auto EPB function on. The truck doesn’t move at all, just makes the noise exactly as snickers outlined a few mins after shut down/lock…

I have also tried “pushing” on it to see if I could replicate the noise, as if it’s caused by the truck moving incrementally, but it won’t budge and it won’t make the noise again.

Is it the parking brake engaging? Does the auto parking brake engage after you exit the vehicle?
What does the parking brake sound like when you engage it yourself? Is that the same sound you hear after you exited the truck?

Yes it’s engaging and working fine. Sounds normal when it engages after shifting to park. I am not engaging it myself, but have turned on the auto EPB (I have shut the automatic function off in the past and keep going back and forth on it).

the noise of it engaging is not the same as the quick squeak after the truck’s turned off and locked. It’s like a half a second “squeak” but definitely noticeable, a minute or two after getting out of the truck.

It's not the parking brake, it's not the evap, and it's normal? What's left?

    Parking brake is reclamping.
This is done as the rotors cool off.

Does brake let go and reaply it self, or is more force added to compensate for cooling and the rotor contracting? This thought ran thru my mind of the brake resetting. I have never noticed this on anything else with an electronic parking brake. Maybe it happens and I never noticed? I never drove anything with an automatic electric parking brake, is it part of the auto feature? Is it a Toyota feature do any other GAF Toyota trucks do this?

This is like discovering the world is round for me, because I've never heard of this before with electronic parking brakes.

I also suspect if and when AEPB become mandatory the parking pawl in the automatic transmission will go away, as the AEPB will make the pawl obsolete and save a few cents.

Do most electronic parking brakes reclamp after the rotors cool? I have never noticed that, I have had three vehicles with EPB not automatic, daily drive a van with EPB, and have parked several vehicles with EPB but can't recall engaging the EPB or not. I'm not saying they don't do this I have never noticed hearing the brake operate after the initial engagement.

just cuz you dont hear it on you model, year, make, doesnt mean the technology doesnt exist or doest happen....
tech is different in your truck.
My 2024 tacoma does it all the time..
turn car off & electric parking brake immediately sets, then noise again maybe few minutes later, may do it a few time....
Im not OCD so really dont pay attention to time-line, the noise is very obvious what it is..
