Gonna put a couple walls up sometime and make an office in front of the bathroom. Forgot a before pic of the corner, was a hot mess. Got the fridge moved and water line ran to it.

My goal is have the fridge near all the other water lines so I can heat with a small gas heater or electric if I don’t want to heat the entire shop with the wood stove to keep the lines from freezing.

Also to cut down on the ashes dust and grinding dust on my desk.

Well fellers, this is the time of year when my motivation tank is on "E" especially when the days look like this.

    20250215_150455.jpg

So I try to find a project to get me moving, naturally there are requirements:

    1) Has to have some perceived value, organizing the silverware drawer isn't good enough.
    2) Can't be too much work because I'm lazy.
    3) Has to be inside obviously and something I can do without bending down.
    4) Has to be cheap.

    :confused::confused::confused:

Having a daily van has a lot of merits, one being if you find something on the curb you can simply pull over and load up.

Say a wayward electric dryer alone on the curb for example.

    20250205_141510.jpg

Let's do a temporary hook up and check this out....
    Well, hey! :)

    20250205_143854.jpg

Next let's remove some extra parts.

    20250205_152326.jpg

If you haven't ever taken one apart it all held together with 1/4 & 5/16 head zip screws.

    20250205_152642.jpg

And a bit of cutting :sawzall:

    20250207_155926.jpg

I bought this for the furnace job, such a useful tool.

    Winter project part 2

The blower on a dryer pulls the air, the heating element is on the intake side, the blower on the exhaust.

I needed the blower to push not pull and also to point the other way. The original exit fitting is now on the other side.

    20250210_173502.jpg

And capped off. Long suffering readers will remember the gray duct seal mastic I used on the furnace, I sealed everything up with it although a dryer isn't built to be air tight.

I needed to make the standard 4" round fittings mate to the non-standard rectangular heating element, started with a heating system "register box".

Part 3, my pictures are suddenly slow to load - I can see the tower from the garage window.

    Tin knocker I ain't...
    A little :sawzall:
Some pop rivets - don't weld on galvanized things .

    20250206_160511.jpg

    And that should do.

Now what about all these wires?

    20250212_143414.jpg

    Part 5

A little bangin' & beatin' plus some :sawzall: & :welder:gives us a box.
    (That should get painted)

    20250215_150110.jpg

Air intake on the back, the orange wire is the sensor for my temperature meter.

    20250215_150530.jpg

    5400 watts and very quiet.
50.7 degrees in & 188.8 out, not bad for a no money project.:woot:

    20250215_150933.jpg

Years ago one of the tenants left this double sided tackle box behind, works great for terminal ends.

    20250215_150624.jpg

It had some fishing stuff, I gave it away.

That's a lot of work for a hot dog cooker.

    I love it.

Does it have a popcorn button?

It was really just putter work, something to get me moving - winter really isn't my season.

No function buttons , heat or no heat are your choices.

Well done Rusty, nice vision. Did you come up with that or had you seen that done before?
