Made a table for my daughter . I had made the top for my wife , complete with Spanish & English wording , but she didnt like it . I had kept it behind a couch for a few years . The daughter moved out and asked about it , I told her it hers . I made a base and took it to her place , she loves it .

I’ve finally got these feet almost level. I resorted to sandpaper on the floor to smooth the feet up, but I thought about running them through the jointer.

Just a thought for everyone. I am always shocked at the prices of wood recently. I bought a sheet of mid-grade plywood recently and it cost me almost $80. So, because I am cheap, I have been watching the free section of my local Craigslist and picking up solid wood furniture to use for my projects now. Out of style furniture does not sell but many times it is made of solid maple, oak or pine. It only takes a little time to break down the stuff into usable wood for projects. It also saves it from going to the local landfill. FWIW Don't tell the folks you pick the furniture up from that you plan to cut it up in case it's a family heirloom or something. LOL

I am in Norcal and it seems like there is no end of solid wood furniture on Craigslist for free. To the point of me getting picky about what I actually take.

Almost ready to deliver to my nephew and his wife. Just need to cut a plexiglass cover for front/back of box. I like it without, but maybe the plexiglass will protect insides when they move.

The center "white" is their wedding invitation, but I inverted to may save them some privay.

Walnut plaque (need a hard wood when you cut out that much of the board) and hard maple frame. Could not finish the inside with plexiglass in, so tried a through-slot in the top frame part ... made it look ugly and made part of that frame weak even in maple. So I bottomed out the side slots (left the little triangles in the corners for the "box-look"), made the top slot 1/8th inch deeper than bottom slot to "tip in" plexiglass ... or not.

Flower is held in place by a form-cut piece of plexiglass front/back, held in place by binder-bolts painted brown ... top-center/bottom-left/bottom-right ... and does not shift but can be removed.

My 45 degree cuts suck. The corner triangles leftover from the side-slots are not flush. The polycrylic is overapplied in some places (darker than could be) and the wood absorbed the polycrylic in odd ways in some places (odd "spots"). One of the side-slots holding the plaque was fubared but at least is on the back-side.

Feel free to tell me why it is either (A) stupid way to present wedding mementos and/or (B) pure trash construction. But I am proud of my first efforts using a router.

Serious question though, is it not safe to run it through the jointer since there is a radius cut out of the middle? I’m trying to stay safe because I was taught at a young age to remove guards and all the safety features because they “get in the way”.

I wouldnt do it. It could tear out quit easily.

Get an random orbital and 80grit disc and then sand the high sided ones down.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Somewhere amongst those clamps is the glued up noodle board top.
    20250213_125620.jpg

Made some progress today. Everything sanded to 120. Stopped there and glued up the front piece and laid out the sides and back.
    20250215_153215.jpg

Cut down the sides to length and the cut out the handle. Tomorrow I'll get those cleaned up and then round them over with the router. If time allows, I'll glue those down tomorrow as well.

You always seem to need 2 more clamps than you already have
