I think one huge thing that will help is I'll have my factory wheels to look at. At least that's what I'm telling myself   RMATV has a good vid showing how the Hondas have a double cross rather than the normal single. If I can just get them together.....paying to have them trued won't throw too much salt in the wound

I watched the video of Ari Hennings big bore kit. I'd love to buy a 300L and dump 6000$ on it lol.

I trued the wheels on the Harley. Wasn’t really that hard. I think I could confidently lace and true a set of wheels.

I want that kit too. I went and checked out a new Himalyan a few weeks ago, and love the new KTM 390 Adventure R. My sensible side kicked in and realized I could spend a lot less on my Rally and have a bike that will be setup to do more than I'd ever put it through. $1600 for the Rally Raid stuff, $1200 for the Ari BBK, CBR cams, valve/spring kit.....and that should be it. The gold wheels and Rothmans sticker kit would have that bike perfect to me.

I met a 300L Rally rider and I was marveling at how nice it looked, then saw him struggle to keep at my speed. I thought it was a skill issue and he explained the rear spring and valving. They really are setup for a 150lb rider, but have massive gains from some simple upgrades.

I dont know specifics. I know hoops snd hubs have to match count/angles. They arent "all the same" per manufacturer

    Yeah, the suspension sucks
Good to know. I'll contact Warp9 and make sure they'll work with a factory hub. I sure hope they will. They have the same size as the factory wheels(18x2.15 and 21x1.60)....so that's a plus :D

I haven't laced a motorcycle wheel but I have done tons of bicycle wheels. Not really all that different I would think. There are calculators for spoke lengths for bicycle wheels. It uses hub diameter, rim diameter at the nipple area, and cross pattern. Once all the info is put in it gives you the spoke length. Lacing the wheel and trueing it on a stand isn't all that difficult. I would ask the rim manufacturer if they recommend a specific spoke or nipple style. I don't think it much matters at the hub end.

Because riding one grand tour at a time isn't enough for me, or I'm a sucker for an excuse to go riding I just signed up for the 2025 Team Strange GT.

    https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/tea...d-tour-2025-a-midsummer-s-day-drea-t4825.html

Locations from Shakespeare plays. Need to visit just 12 for finisher's status but I'm an overachiever. Combining this with the GLMC Grand Tour will be fun! I'll just be carrying 2 rally flags at all times.

Installed a stiffer spring for my weight in the KLX. Massive difference. Wasn’t too bad of a process.

Yearly pit bike race for my buddies bday is coming up. I have never kept the pit bikes i usually buy as I really only would use them once a year. Typically always a chinese 110/125 crf110 sized or a lil bit bigger.

I have had a uh.... history.... of stretching the races rules over the years as far as the bike specs vs what others were running which has incurred me penalties during the race.... this year before I even had something in my possession the bday boy in our group chat was like.... ND4 already has a penalties just cus even if he somehow manages to be within the race rules hahahaha.

OK.... so if im already being penalized may as well go full send yeah?

Picked this up yesterday, its pit bike esque yeah? Small wheel 2004 RM85. Shes rough but the price was right $360. Before I put any money into it I wanted to make sure it ran. Cleaned the carb, new spark plug, pulled the reed cage and had a gander down in her cases / cylinder. DOOD she looks CLEAN inside, cylinder cross hatching still there with MINIMAL vertical scoring. She fired right up and sounded SPICY. This is going to be full on cheat mode. Im 100% getting extra beer penalties on top of already promised beer penalties.

So I spoke with Warp9. They don't have a spoke kit that works with a factory hub.....but the factory spokes will work with their rim. I plan to order the rims in a week or two :D
