Swapped in the new RAM. I’m not seeing the same AA21 I was previously getting. I’ll patiently wait to see if it boots I guess!

Normally with the first boot, it'll take like 20 seconds or so.

After which, every boot should have you at the log in within 2-3 seconds.

We have booted! I’ve got Windows 11 getting installed now and I’m beyond happy. Thanks again everyone. This PC build is no longer a paper weight haha

Do we have a specific PC parts for sale thread? I have some RAM to offload now haha.

    G.SKILL Flare X5 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model F5-6000J3038F16GX2-FX5

Paid 105 for the pair, would be happy with 80 bucks back out of it.

We do somewhere; I'd just toss it in a box of PC parts lol

I too have spare DDR5 in the box, along with old processors, video cards, and more. Stick around long enough and you'll be able to build multiple computers :bananadead:

    Shoot, older stuff.

I know there's a 780TI cause I found it looking for a picture frame. I'll have to see what else.

There's an AMD FX, an E8400, and another cpu I forget in there.

Nothing modern really with the most modern extras being some SSD's and some DDR5 ram. It's stacked with the DDR2 and DDR3 ram :anonymous:

I've been needing/wanting an 8th or 9th Gen Intel CPU for an experiment but don't want to bother paying top dollar for one on Ebay.

I wouldn't hang on to extra components especially if new. It drops in value way too quick. I know there's a subform on reddit where people offload components. Ebay is an option too.

Plus, given they didn't work, I might try to RMA them before selling. Nothing is worse than getting a call from a buyer that they want their money back.

I'm thinking about building the kiddo his own pc, but I sold all our old parts during life changes.

A 5600G with radeon makes no sense compared to a simple AM4/10th-11th gen set up with a 1660

Any tips? I wish I had kept my 10600k, but here we are. Too early to upgrade my 5800x3d as well.

1660s are going for 100$ cdn, should I try rolling the dice with aliexpress for cheap cpu?

With that said, anyone need some DDR5 for their older Intel cpu?

My old PC has a 1660. Might be able to unload the build to you if you are interested. Could use a little customization to your kiddos liking and call it good!

Cross border makes it not worth it, but I really appreciate the gesture!

I feel like there's many 1660s just lying around so I'll test my luck around me. Seems like the perfect minecraft card.

    Don't go with Aliexpress. You'll get a 8800GT that's been tricked into thinking it's a 1660.

Maybe wait for AMDs new large APUs? They're supposed to come to desktop and offer 4060 performance.

Now that it boots you could try updating the BIOS (which you should do anyway, if you haven't already) then trying the original RAM again. If it works you could return the new RAM.
