Sounds like you’re talking about dealing with slope. We had that over in mobile and you end up either just accepting the gradient or doing incremental retention (typically lumber logs) or brick/block retention walls for higher gradient changes. Any of them… use pebble and sand behind them with plant barrier to control everything…

I am. I was contemplating a retaining wall, to create more space for a patio, but I might make a bed between the walkway and the wall for more plant space too. It wouldn't be very tall, maybe 2-3 feet. I'm not crazy about a traditional retaining wall, I'm wondering if I could make one out of unorthodox materials. :notsure:

I’m fortunate, I can burn what I earn, which is good… but that… that managerial bullshit.

You can…perhaps use the raised garden technique to create a de facto retaining wall. You can use whatever you want. I will say that the wavy roof panels (plastic with fiber embedded) are cost efficient, as are “railroad ties” (lawn timbers). This way, you can work it as partial inground garden and raised garden.

I’m ok with that method as well. We can hold as much as we want… it comes back at the end as a cash payout or time calculation for retirement.

Yea, some things can’t be unseen. I’d love to see fixed and improved… but sadly, most everything I’ve looked back at was grossly modified. Unrecognizable is the word I’d use to describe.
