ARE vs Leer topper

Whoo hoo!

 

I think my top was a little under 200lbs. Built a carpeted wood platform and maybe 60lbs in tools back there. So under 400lbs total added and it was definitely sagging. Added the blue sumo springs. Helped alot. The ride feels great but still slight rear sag. Will do something in the spring to address it.

 

I know this is an older thread but I love my ARE shell for anyone reading this and looking for advice. I’ve taken it all over North America and it has served me very well.

I had a lot of custom options built into it. It was stupid expensive but well worth it for me.

 

I have the ARE.
Ordered without side windows and without interior carpet.
The shell interior is rough fiberglass strands, unlike my old Brahma shell on my 1991 which had a smooth interior finish.
This seems a bit rough, especially for the price paid.

That is my only gripe.
Otherwise it is a perfect paint match for 040 Ice Cap, and a perfect fit.

Do you like the look and function of the side windoors (being split horizontal with a less width window sliding open).?

 

I like the ability to get into the truck bed from the sides. The less width sliding window doesn’t bother me at all.

 

It took them almost 7 weeks to fix it. Just a little longer than it took to get it when I ordered it new. So far it’s still looking good.
