IMO tread pattern & tire compound stiffness are likely to affect fuel economy more than a modest difference in weight.

4 lbs is about 8% lighter than the comparable Yokohama tire. That modest difference is only going to matter when accelerating, and then only if you are accelerating aggressively.

I agree. 4lbs is still a lot to consider. What do you think of the g015 vs the cooper atp. It's lighter as well and more of a ht style tread pattern and 60k mi warranty. I think I've narrowed my search to that tire vs this one.

I've never driven on or used Cooper tires, idk their reputation.

For my 98% on-road use cases I am 100% satisified with the Yoko GO15. It also does fine on dirt forest roads w/ light to moderate loose gravel.

Looking briefly at the Cooper vs. the Yoko in the same size, the Yoko looks to be 25-30% less expensive per tire. The Cooper tread pattern looks like it would perform somewhat better in moderate off-road conditions.

The Yoko G015 with its straight circumferential channels looks like it will be better at clearing water from the road at highway speeds. In my experience it has performed excellently on highways in heavy rain w/ standing or flowing water across the roadway. I haven't used the G015 in snow / ice country.

Forgot about this thread. I've wracked up quiet a bit of miles on these GO15s. Only issues I've had so far is one blow out and a staple that was able to be patched.
Still really happy with them and would buy them again.

Can you go into more detail about the blowout? Seems concerning.

Was the truck overloaded, weight-wise? Did you run over a sharp, wide piece of metal or something?

I was running completely empty doing about 55. Tire guy suspects it had something puncture it judging by the little nick in it. Whatever it was it decided to not stick around so we have no idea what the object was.

I’ve had these for two Michigan winters now and the are really good in rain/snow/slush. They are also wearing great. Still like the sidewall looks as a bonus. I’ve done a bit of muddy trail exploring and they did just fine too.
